I stumbled upon this place when I was looking for a way to play Fire Emblem online. I was pleased with what I found, a nice variety of games to play and I can play from just about any computer I use too. As for an introduction: I am the one and only Hibiro! I am found throughout the many corners of the Internet, either as Hibiro, Kai-kun or HibiroZ. I'm an avid Gamer, Otaku and just outright Nerd. I play tons of games, though I prefer the more hardcore or thought-intensive games. I enjoy YuGiOh, Pokémon, Digimon, Fire Emblem, Sonic, Zelda, Metroid, Earthbound and other games and franchises. Oh, I'm also a Brony. As for an introduction: I am the one and only Hibiro! I am found throughout the many corners of the Internet, either as Hibiro, Kai-kun or HibiroZ. Welcome to Vizzed, Hibiro, and Merry Christmas! I hope you find everything you are looking for. I am no brony, but I do know that a few people here are. You might find them if you look for a certain thread in the TV forum, though a better place to look might be the rented forum titled icrazy's army. If you need help around the Vizzed Board, feel free to send me a private message. ![]() ![]() |

Thank you. I know just as well as anyone (From being a forum mod myself), that nothing keeps a person coming back than knowing their welcome and that there's always people happy to help and make them feel welcome. Obviously, I've got to get some stuff sorted out to make myself look a lot less like just some random person here trying to get Viz. But that will require messing with a few things I guess, but I assume that's not too hard. It seems like a lot of people are very dedicated to this place, and I don't blame them. Perhaps I'll take a look around and see if there's anywhere else I can fit in besides just being a Gamer/Otaku/Brony. I can go on rants on things at times, and I'm also an Avid RPer as well. My mind seems to have a habit of going above and beyond at times. Hopefully I'll find a lot more to do here than just play the games. Well, like you said. You seem to have a good handle on things. But I will throw out a helping hand when you need it, whether it be in the RGR itself or the board. Just wondering, do you plan on competing in Davideo7's monthly RGR competitions? If you want to try this months, there are still a few days left to try. |

I might be willing to try out some of the competitions, really depends on the games involved. I'm not a great Retro gamer, as I have a hard time focusing on one game, though I've still thought of doing the one thing no one's done yet.... Setting the speed-run record on Oracle of Ages. Indeed, of all the Zelda games, the ones I know best are the wonderful Oracle series, and I could probably beat the current record for Seasons with only a little bit of practice and study. Other than that, I'll have to see what games are involved before I participate. Again, thank you for making me feel welcome, and I do plan to be around quite a bit as I find more to do here. [A strong tempest suddenly emerges and a silhouette of a young man suddenly forms. He walks toward a man named Hibiro. As he does so, the tempest quiets and all grows peaceful. Upon approach, Critters shakes Hibiro's hand eagerly.] Welcome to the world of Vizzed, Hibiro! I am Critter, pleased to meet you! I also enjoy "Pokémon," "Zelda," and "Metroid." I have never heard of "Fire Emblem" however. What is it about and why do you like it? By 'Brony' do you mean that you watch the show "My Little Pony"? I apologize if my terminology is incorrect, but I'm unsure of what that means. Anyhow, I welcome you heartily. I look forward to seeing you around Hibiro. Good day and may the force be with you. Once again, thank you all for making me feel welcome. It's nice to see so many helpful people, and I plan to be where you are now at some point. Anyway, as to what Lvl1Critter said, all I can say is: Oh My. I understand when certain games go un-noticed, such as Ar Tonelico, Atelier Iris, Disgaea, Champions, etc. And I get that a game on a Nintendo system that isn't titled with the names "Mario", "Zelda", "Pokémon", or "Metroid", are easily missed, but I expect it more from Golden Sun, not Fire Emblem. So, what is Fire Emblem? Well, perhaps you've heard of a series known as Final Fantasy? Or more specifically, Final Fantasy Tactics? (Advance, A2: Grimoire of the Rift) If not, perhaps Tactics Ogre, Advance Wars, Super Robot Taisen, Disgaea, Makai Kingdom, Phantom Brave, or Nobunaga's Ambition? I certainly hope one of those rings a bell. Anyway, what would all these games have in common? The Genre and general play style. They are referred to as a Tactical Role Playing Game, or Tactics Game for short. What defines a tactics? A turn-based Game play that often takes place on a grid-based map (save for Phantom Brave) where each character can only move so far. You control all your units in a single turn, and when you've ended your turn, it goes on to your opponent's turn. However, Fire Emblem was the very first game to use this play style, the original being on the NES. (Unfortunately, the game was only released in Japan) To date, there are currently 12 Fire Emblem games, with the 13th in production for the 3DS. However, only 5 of them have been localized officially. The first Fire Emblem we received was known as Blazing Sword in Japan on the GBA, and was the 7th game in the series. It was titled solely as Fire Emblem, when it came over seas in 2003. This game featured three heroes, or 'Lords' Lyndis, Hector and Eliwood. I'm a bit fuzzy on the story at the moment, however, if you would like, I would have no problem doing a full review of the Fire Emblem Games. Another thing that set Fire Emblem apart was the deaths. Unlike in some games, where you could revive the characters after they died, once a character died in Fire Emblem, they were dead for good, no bringing them back. And if your 'Lord' was defeated in battle, instant Game Over, no matter who's still alive. This really brought the difficulty up compared to other tactics games. However, before we even received this wonderful game, in 2001, Nintendo had given us the Game cube Sequel to a very popular fighting game on the N64 known as: Super Smash Brothers. In "Melee", there were two characters most of us never recognized from a game we had never heard of. They were Marth and Roy from Fire Emblem. We were all trying to figure out what this Fire Emblem game was, and through this mystery, (and possibly strength of the characters) Marth and Roy become very popular, despite their origins having never before been known in the Western World. This is what inspired Nintendo to give us the legendary GBA game: Fire Emblem. (It is indeed legendary as in order to get the game new, one must spend upwards of $80 today) Now came the next issue. You see, this game we received did not have either of the fabled characters, Marth or Roy, but unknown to us at the time, the character that shared a striking resemblance to Roy, Eliwood, was actually Roy's father. This is a fact that would only be known if you played Fire Emblem 6: Sword of Seals, though it comes before "Fire Emblem", it takes place after, as SoS features Roy as the main character, who is the son of Eliwood. But what about Marth? Where is he from, well, we had yet to see him.... A Year after we received "Fire Emblem" on the GBA, they gave us Fire Emblem 8: Sacred Stones. Still no Marth though. Nope, this featured twins, Prince Ephraim, and Princess Eirika. Though I found this one to be my personal favorite, as unlike the previous game, you weren't limited to just following the story. You could go back to older areas, fight in side dungeons, and essentially level up every character you have without having to worry about who's better to use. You could find out yourself. Less than a Year later, we received the first 3D Fire Emblem game, which Japan had a month before we even got Sacred Stones. This was the one that would go down in history and make Fire Emblem even more popular. Yup, that's right, it was Fire Emblem 9: Path of Radiance. Featuring the character we know so well as Ike, he led the Greil Mercenaries (And eventually even Crimea) to victory over Daein and the Mad King's Rule. This game made a lot of enhancements, and was the first game to feature the Skill System besides the Notoriously difficult: Thracia 776. However, unlike some games, the way Path of Radiance ended was... Un fulfilling. Throughout the game there were many subtle hints to the secret identity of a certain character, and there was also a mysterious person, who mentions something about it only beginning... Two years later now, we receive on the new Nintendo console, the sequel to Path of Radiance, as part of the Tellius Saga, Fire Emblem 10: Radiant Dawn. This game starts out featuring the main characters as Micaiah and Sothe. Many who played the previous game would recognize Sothe as the stowaway thief that was looking for someone. Though you didn't want to use him because he didn't turn out to be too good, and never promoted. Now, he starts promoted and is a Main character, on par with the 'Lords' of the games. It also turns out that you could carry over your Path of Radiance data to have the Greil Mercenaries gain stat boosts when you obtain them in Radiant Dawn. Given they were Level 20 and Promoted when you cleared Path of Radiance. The story this time however, is that the war between the Beorc (Humans) and Laguz (Demi-Humans), would bring about the end of the world. And while one side was working to stop this, the other was playing ignorant, and knew nothing of it. It was also in this game, that the secret identity of previously said character would be revealed, and all loose ends would be tied up... A Year later, we receive the next installment in the popular Nintendo fighting game, Super Smash Brothers: Brawl. Roy was nowhere to be found this time, but once again, the ever-elusive Marth was in it. This time thought, they gave us Ike, as his popularity from his own games had earned him the right in the roster. But still... Why have we not seen Marth outside the Smash Bros games? The answer to this was to come a year later, when the next installment to the Fire Emblem series would reach us. It was titled: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, and it was actually a DS remake of the FIRST Fire emblem game. And who was the main character? None other than Marth. Yes, Marth was the first 'Lord' of the Fire Emblem Series, and we wouldn't find that out for a long time... Now, it's ALMOST 3 Years and North America has NOT received a new Fire Emblem! Has the fan's love for the games died? Is Fire Emblem over for us out here? I hope not... On July 15th 2010, Japan received another Fire Emblem Remake, New Mystery of the Emblem. (Remake of the game of the same game without 'New') This is a direct sequel to the previous installment featuring Marth, but for over a year now, they've refused to localize it. And of course now, the next installment is in the works for the 3DS... We can only hope we get a new Fire Emblem soon... Anyway, sorry about that, but I am a fan of it after all. And I have some good news for you Critter, Viz has both the GBA games available, as well as a playable Translated version of the previously mentioned Thracia/Thraki 776 for SNES. Please, go check it out and enjoy. Also, yes I do watch My Little Pony. I have a Twilight Sparkle figurine on my desk. Anyway, as to what Lvl1Critter said, all I can say is: Oh My.
