I figured the color of my name is almost the exact color of the pokemon logo and the font of the pokemon logo is pretty similar to the font of usernames so it just seems to match so nicely...almost as if it was meant to be.

It does show up actually, you just have to have the right encoding switched on. Since I have Japanese on, that letter look like a Japanese kanji -- quite common when displaying any special character really.
