So is there a reason you chose Daze Before Christmas for this year's Christmas High Score competition again instead of one of the other ones? I assume it was because last year, people could cheat with save states, and now they can't.

JigSaw : As a matter of fact, that is exactly what is happening. You can get sucked up by vacuums in this game. And that is a pizza. That restores health..... this game is SO bad.

I don't really enjoy the majority of Christmas themed games, since they are generally shoddy rip offs just to get you to buy something "in the spirit of Christmas"

That said, I do like the Home Alone games.

JigSaw : The best home alone game is the one for Sega Genesis, that's the most like the movie. You gotta get to the houses in the neighborhoods before the Wet Bandits do and you gotta set up booby traps.

Yeah, I think that anyone who makes good christmas games should be praised. It's not all that much harder than designing the game. You just need to avoid rushing the product and making it a virtual copy of every other game on the market.

Too many people think a Christmas game has to be cutesy or a platformer or be based on Santa.

You can make a good Cristmas game without any of those things, in fact, it would be something new really.

legacyme3 : That's exactly the problem, the products are probably being rushed in time for Christmas.

Another problem with Christmas games is that people will only play them 1 month of the year so it's probably not worth investing a ton of money into the game for developers if their game will only sell for 1 month out of the year.

As for the cutesy thing, the Batman Returns is a Christmas game that is pretty dark.

Still, it'd be nice to see a good Christmas game.

FYI DKC3 can be played with a christmas theme with a code.

LRRLRRLRLR and I think the code is merry. Not too sure it's been a while. Bonus games have a christmas tune and stars are turned into ornaments while green bananas are presents.

I used to do this a lot during the holidays.
