Who remembers a sad, hurt, lonely, mid-crisis, or bullied forum member, or someone who had to leave?
Does anyone remember them? No.

I beg to differ with your opening statement. I think everyone here remembers those that had to leave because of something that came up in life. We just don't talk about it a lot here because some of their friends are sensitive to the subject or it was just a rough time in the life of Vizzed.

Anyways, I do agree with what seems to be the purpose of the White Dove. I think that a lot of members are bullied on the site, and sometimes people don't recognize it. It's a shame because when we talk about Vizzed being an open honest site, we have these times when some users feel like their outcasted from here.

Now, I don't know how you'll get a whole order or something organized, but it's good to bring this to attention. It's a bit unrealistic to unconditionally love every single member of the board, but we can make a bit more conscious effort to accept some of the users here.

I don't really "remember" ~sakura~ having never met her.

I'm familiar with her story. I know what happened. It makes me sad. I can't remember who I never knew, but I do remember her story.

I do. I deal with these kinds of people often. Many of them come to me telling me issues of what's going on and I tell other people to lay off them. I feel I do my part to help. I can't do everything of course, but I do care about each and every member of this board. Even when we joke around, I make it very clear I'm joking with them, and I think we have a mutual respect of each other.

We don't need an order so to speak. We just need people to be themselves, and lend a hand at times.

But you say "does anyone remember them? No." This is wrong.

Many of us remember those who have come and gone. In fact, most of us miss who have come and gone.

I won't name names, but I've seen several members come and go in the past year. I remember a large portion of them.

I remember them. I prefer to live and let die. If I linger on why some one left or was forced to leave I get quite upset and then that leads to issues here and other places. When that happens nothing is good. I think they should be remembered but not thought on. There is no use in it.

I'm with leggy on this one... and I've been here a long time so the list of those I remember is longer than most. If you want an order, that is fine... but I really think that this should be something that ALL members ascribe to, not just a select group.

I only signed up at the beginning of this year so I cannot say that I remember ~sakura~, but I can at least say that I have read her story. Unlike many other users I have seen "leave," she at least had a legitimate reason --but it is a heart-breaker of a reason through and through.

I have seen a few users leave with good reasons, and I have seen some go because they were hurt by other members. It is sad how most people don't know how to treat others --even I have failed to do so at times, but not on Vizzed as far as I know.

You might be surprised how much a pat on the back can help another person. It does not solve all problems, but the mere comfort of a friend can be all it takes sometimes. I know this from experience.

As much it hurts me to see such things, they give me a purpose. I am not going to join any Order. God gave commands to love. I don't try to love others because it is a good thing; I do so because it is the right thing.

Sakura day may be a nice gesture but then again it has caused lots of trouble and jealousy. If that were not true we would not be here discussing it in this thread.

Prayers are enough, no need to go overboard with competitions and annual events glorifying someone who has little impact in the daily operations of this site. It was a bad idea to begin with. Instead it should be renamed to something else besides sakura day, something that recognizes all old members of this site who are no longer with us. That would be more appropriate then giving all the attention to one person.

To be honest, I actually agree with you in a way too, although I also greatly respect sakura day, and what it stands for.

It has caused a lot of jealousy. I've seen a few members in the past year fake leave, leave, or say a family member is dying and begged for an announcement and special day. I won't name names, but it has caused issues.

Being an Atheistic Unitarian Universalist, I can't say I pray for people, but I do wish for the best.

I won't say it was a bad idea to make a Sakura Day however. I think in the earnest of those who made the decision, that sakura day is a lasting testament to a person who touched us with a true and sad story. The day isn't about posting, but about rememberence. She had a good deal of friends from the looks of it, and was well respected (at least from my outlook). In the end I don't have a problem with honoring her, although I also agree it has caused a great deal of jealousy.

legacyme3 : Sakura day isn't bad, but the main problem I have with it is the exposure and announcements it gets, that is what has caused most of the jealousy. This is a community and you have to give attention to others or it will come back and haunt you.

Some people wanted David to make announcements for family members who are not members of this site. That is how out of hand sakura day has gotten. People can still do sakura day however I really don't think it should be promoted with announcements or else it ends up causing major problems in future.

It's not fair for 1 person to get an announcement and site wide exposure when everyone else is left in the dust and ignored. So either give everyone an announcement or eliminate the announcement then there is nothing to complain about as far as discrimination.

On that level I agree, we shouldn't really need an announcement for that. If people want to have a special day for her, by all means, go ahead and do it without the need of an announcement. I remember what day Sakura Day is, no reason others can't.

Interesting thoughts, guys. Right after this year's ~sakura~ day, an idea came to my mind that I was going to hold off on saying until much later; but since you guys are discussing a few problems that arose from it (problems that I was never aware of), I would like to suggest a potential new meaning to ~sakura~ day.

In addition to the remembrance of ~sakura~, the day can also be about all the fond memories we have made amongst each other. Making new friends, send and accepting friend requests for hilarious and/or pointless reasons, staying in the chat rooms when we should have been asleep, the jokes we shared, etc. This would be a day where we all come together to promote a stronger, friendlier community.

Everything that I listed here came to mind after re-reading ~sakura~'s thread. And, JigSaw, your idea that it is to remember the other members, that are here no more, deserves merit.

blckrose733 : Weather she passed away or not is largely un certain. She was a member on this board for a section of time and near the end of her time she announced she had leukemia. (Look it up if you do not know what it is) That is all she said and she has never been back since. I think it is safe to say she either passed away or forgot about this place.

Beavis : what was sad about this is that when she was diagnosed, she had to go through some surgical procedure, and she was given a 5% chance of surviving. She explained the whole story in her leaving thread. You can find it in the Treasure Bin forums.
