Ah yes, another infamous Castlevania game.
Okay, lets get started. First off the Castlevania Genre is intended for everyone. Dracula's Castle is as sinister as he himself. The idea that the castle is searching for those it can manipulate whether it is a channel through which Dracula's soul operates is cunning and clever. I was not overly impressed but somewhat amused by the intro to the protagonist/antagonists in this story. Most of us have experienced some form of Castlevania throughout the years and have led the crusade through the eyes of a Belmont. That also being said I do enjoy playing a classic game as a complete stranger. However, Symphony of the Night was my favorite.
Overall:
The reason I gave this game an 8 is due to the story line. I believe that the plot was very interesting and could have been explored much more. Part of the reason Castlevania games become so entrancing is the great attention to the story. You are re-creating one of the GREATEST stories of the twentieth century. Letting users control a part of the legacy which is Dracula, not to mention we know he actually existed only adds to the fantasy of being involved with one of the most notorious men in history. SO!!! Anyway, when a Castlevania game creates a new chapter I personally expect a little more than five characters who bump into each other five times for no apparent reason other than to give rhetorical questions.
Graphics:
The imagery and so forth are what you would expect from Castlevania. Very imaginative and well created to fit what an evil castle should incorporate. Top to bottom detail from dungeon to chimney. As far as character , monster, weapon etc... I was fairly impressed. Being that it is a Advance game I'm trying not to be overly critical because I know they have limited space and means to create a massive game. The weapons show up as different styles giving users the option of seeing what they are using which is a must when you offer so many weapons.
Sound:
Well at least the music matched the where you were. I'm not to picky on sound because I usually mute the sound and use my own play list but yes yes yes sound is important. I can only imagine what its like to have to create a track for each section of a Castlevania game, whew, not my cup of tea.
Addictiveness:
Okay, heres where I'm going to catch some disagreement. Yes , the end of this game as does 90% of the games out offer you to "replay the game" with stats, perks, etc... whoopee. Okay this game is Linear but not linear...make sense? Thanks I knew it would. Anyway replaying a game that you suffer through a non-existent story just to complete the same tasks in a different order does not do it for me. I am one of those people who cannot re-read a book.
Story:
See review guidelines if left blank.
Depth:
Great weaponry and armor as is necessary for a Castlevania game and incorporates a couple of its predecessors tactics as far as the souls or using enemies powers. Very cool. Lots of fun. I did think the game was over with a little quickly but as I mentioned its not on a platform that can make it 120hrs. Of game play so for its model....good enough. It does have a lot more to do in search of itemry or weapons etc... but its not overly challenging to get these items, which kinda dulls out the struggle to become truly powerful. Its like "yay I smacked a random wall and the best sword in the game fell out, now the game will be really hard." When they could have made it near impossible to obtain such items which makes your progress there after soooooooooo worth the effort.
Difficulty:
I play all games on the most difficult agenda for the challenge. In this game once you learn how to properly use the souls regardless of weaponry you will master it quite fast. However, if you are a fan of leveling up don't over do it or you will be quite bored.
Parting shot:
I truly enjoyed this game. Too bad it was so short. Too bad it was so small. I feel teased, just when I made my hero a monster and was like... "LETS DO THIS" the game was over and my character and I both slouched me in my chair and he in his castle....where's the beef?????
