I am a Muslim. Why we are horribly treated, I don't understand. Americans don't like us and are trying to force us out, even though one of the amendments says free practice of religion. I think that the world could do better by understanding each other and that seems to be a problem in the U.S. Of America. We are constantly called terrorists, even though we are constantly terrorized by others. We are not terrorists and Islamic practices clearly state that Muslims do not hurt others unless in times of war. If other people did not hate us, life would of been easier for both Muslims and non-Muslims.

This is reall the wrong forum, more apropriate for debate/discussion section.
Many americans dislike muslims for different reasons.
1:racism.its not christianity and theyre not white.
2:fear.muslims have caused more american casualtys than any point since vietnam.
3:anger.muslims typically marry muslims.they typically live with other muslims.they do not appear to adapt to the usa, deciding not to adapt to the local way of life.
Those would be the main points i can think of.
The quaran, the bible etc can say what they want, but many followers still hurt people in times of peace. Muslim states torture people who dont adhear to there views.some christians like the ku klux klan do the same.
There is no guarantee of peace in religion.
Youre looking at this one sided.
'if other people did not hate us'
Muslims persecute too,its not a christian anomyly.
And for the reference,i am not christian.

Maybe you are right. I am looking at this one sided. But please know that the actions of one Muslim should not affect the way people look at Muslims. Not all Muslims are like Osama Bin Laddin. In fact, our holy book tells us to do the exact opposite of what he did which is: live in peace and do your best to avoid causing problems.

I agree that you should not be treated in such a way because of your religion. I know that Osama Bin Laddin was an extremist that does not reflect the rest of the people. Unfortunately, Americans are very panicky people. When something happens, there tends to be a lot of extreme reactions that lead to over stereotyping and assumptions. During Vietnam and after Pearl Harbor, people of Asian descent were often treated poorly and discriminated against for something they weren't even a part of. It is a shameful reflection of the American people. But things will get better eventually. It will, unfortunately, likely develop with the generation less affected by the events that led to this discrimination.

I ask you to not look at this as one-sided and everyone is against Muslims.  It is not true.

The 99% are taking on what seems like wealthy, white, Christian males in high levels of corporations.

Atheists and Christians are constantly in political wars over appropriate displays of religion in schools and around the country.

Groups are constantly at arms with each other and threatened by each other.  In fact, as a Muslim, its up to you to be forgiving of others and it is your responsibility to learn from others and teach them that Islam is a peaceful religion.  It preaches peace amongst all.

If everyone did understood each other, then there wouldn't be any bullying, fights, riots, wars, etc. Violence is not an option to solve problems.

Mod-Edit: Removed the layout so people can read this.

Yes it would change everything and that would be a great example of a "perfect" world. Unfortunately I wouldn't hold my breath to it since humanity is constantly the source of needless strife and sacrifices.

Edit: Please don't use a font color that blends in with your layout.

I have friends that are Muslim, and I can understand whey they're horribly mistreated. Really, they are no different from any other person, they just believe in something else in terms of religion. But there's nothing in their thoughts that is bent on hurting people or anything like that.

Most of the reason lies heavily on the government and the media. When 9/11 happened, as most people should know, it was only a tiny group that happened to be Muslim that committed this terrible act. But through things like TV shows, movies, and video games, it's turned out to be an all out war against them. Now everyone's out to get everyone who looks even remotely Muslim.

I remember one story that came out shortly after the 9/11 attacks. This guy just randomly went out and shot a man and he said he did it for America. In fact, the victim was hardly Arabic or even Muslim for that matter; he was only shot because he had a turban on.

And now you have games like Call of Duty going against "terrorist Muslims" throughout. It's a terrible stereotype caused by the carelessness of a few people. I personally don't have anything against Muslims, and I just wish others saw it that way too.

Most people have a reactive answer to anything rather than trying to prevent something from happening in the first place. According to my Police Operations instructor (college), The U.S. had everything they needed to prevent the terrorist attacks of 9/11. But it didn't happen. Why? Because we never thought it could happen to us.

Now about Muslims being terrorized, I first read about this in my Psychology 101 textbook. The people who committed the act of terrorism are part of a minority at only make up 2% of the entire Muslim population. So why are many more being terrorized because of their appearance? Because of their fear of pain (physical or mental), and their inability to think from a perspective other than their own.

And it doesn't just happen to be prejudice against Muslims, it happens to everyone. Christians, Atheists, Republicans, Democrats, you name it. We humans try too much to categorize things and, unfortunately, people, in an attempt to make life easier for ourselves.* Instead of making any effort, we choose the easy route and everyone gets hurt in the process.

*Some stereotyping actually brings people into a good light, but that's another discussion.

I Am A Muslim Also. Despite Muslims Bombing England The English Country Doesn't Hate Muslims At All. But From You're Point Of View I Understand. America Is Very Weird On How They Think Of People. Muslims Are NOT Like Osama Bin Laden, It's Just That He Was Part  Of The Islamic Religion And That Doesn't Mean That In The Quaran It Says To Bomb The Place.

JWmonkeys : You have made some great points in this thread my friend. People should not judge an entire religion on the actions of extremists, it's like judging say, an entire nation as violent just because a few people got into a fight, you just can't do that.
I get a lot of grief from people because I'm a traditional Satanist, I get called every evil name under the sun and have even been physically attacked before because of it. Most of my friends are Christians so it proves that we can live together in peace, it's just some people are too small minded to accept that deep down we are all the same

I can't tell if this point has already been made, so I am sorry if it has, but I will make your point right back at you: sure, the US has no right to nail the whole Muslim culture as violent homicidal terrorists just because of a few extremists. But at the same, time, Muslims can't nail the entire USA for being judgmental, intolerant jerks just because of the people who are. Your argument is a double edged sword. We should all stop passing the blame around, accept our own differences, and move on with our lives. The world would be a better place if we stopped judging others.

Izziah : Actually that's not true, this happens everywhere, not only in the United States. I never hate anyone for their beliefs. And I know not all muslims are terrorists. Unfortunately though a lot of people, and that's all people, not just American's, think that since 9/11, everyone from that country is a terrorist. Is that wrong to think that? Of course, but some people just don't care about other people. They have no empathy.

Everyone is allowed to believe what they want. Will others always understand? No, unfortunately not everyone is a caring and thoughtful person. Some even want to PUSH their beliefs on other people. That's not right at all, but I doubt it'll ever change.

I don't think it would be that much better if people will understand each other all the time because then we won't be able to have debates and having debates on things is fun to do.

The people just don't understand the religion, and I agree what why be racist to them if they are not christian or white. Also it not their fault if they want to keep the tradition of their religion.

I think people are just to self centered about their religion that they refuse to accept that someone believes something differently. While I'm not saying that all people who believe in religion are finatics (thou I'll admit that some people are) people just tend to view the bad stuff first then the good stuff.

Why does anyone hate anyone? They're either jealous, scared, or see them as some sort of threat. 9/11 was the cause of two of those.

Technically, Middle Eastern people are considered white so it's not really a racial thing, ethnic if anything. The majority of Muslims are actually not in the Middle East either. Asia/Pacific contain nearly two-thirds of the Muslim population in the world. It's not like anyone's afraid of Indonesia.

I am an American and I do not hate any religious group. I think the only Americans that hate other groups (regardless of if they target Muslims or not) is ignorant.

All I can say to you, JWmonkeys, is be patient. Things will get better. The Japanese of this country were put through internment camps because of Pearl Harbor. After the war was over, Americans got over it. Now look, Japanese people and Japanese culture are adored now!

You know you're not a bad person so don't let hateful, ignorant people get to you.

All I can say to you, JWmonkeys, is be patient. Things will get better. The Japanese of this country were put through internment camps because of Pearl Harbor. After the war was over, Americans got over it. Now look, Japanese people and Japanese culture are adored now!

You know you're not a bad person so don't let hateful, ignorant people get to you.

hmmmm.....Islam Teaches peace...& it is indeed a religion that respects other religions, however USA and Isra-hell promote terrorism , and when people don't like what the governments are doing they blame Muslims.

They have a law for 17mil Jew's but they have no law for 1.9bill Muslims, How typical. This is why i hate America and Isra-hell Zionist, Half he world hates them and the west.

kKlLmM :
Dont you feel its ironic you are stating you hate groups of peole, and are chastising them for hating a group of people?

NotJon :
Yeh iv seen many arabs and thought, he looks like he's straight out of europe.

And actually, quite a few people are afraid of Indonesia, there's quite a few islamic terror groups based there, they tend to kidnap white people for ransom.
