'Gerah', the term which appears in the MT means (chewed) cud, and also perhaps grain, or berry (also a 20th of a sheckel, but I think that we can agree that that is irrelevant here). It does *not* mean dung, and there is a perfectly adequate Hebrew word for that, which could have been used. Furthermore, the phrase translated 'chew the cud' in the KJV is more exactly 'bring up the cud'. Rabbits do not bring up anything; they let it go all the way through, then eat it again. The description given in Leviticus is inaccurate, and that's that. Rabbits do eat their own dung; they do not bring anything up and chew on it.

Here is the order in the first (Genesis 1), the Priestly tradition:

#1: Step-by-step. The only discrepancy is that there is no Sun or Moon or stars on the first three "days".

How satisfied with creation was he?
#1: God says "it was good" after each of his labors, and rests on the seventh day, evidently very satisfied.
#2: God has to fix up his creation as he goes, and he would certainly not be very satisfied with the disobedience of that primordial couple. (funny thing that an omniscient god would forget things)

The GENEALOGY OF JESUS?
In two places in the New Testament the genealogy of Jesus son of Mary (PBUH) is mentioned. Matthew 1:6-16 and Luke 3:23-31. Each gives the ancestors of Joseph the CLAIMED husband of Mary and Step father of Jesus(PBUH). The first one starts from Abraham(verse 2) all the way down to Jesus. The second one from Jesus all the way back to Adam. The only common name to these two lists between David and Jesus is JOSEPH, How can this be true? and also How can Jesus have a genealogy when all Muslims and most Christians believe that Jesus had/has no father.

Depends where you look; Matthew 12:40 gives Jesus prophesying that he will spend "three days and three nights in the heart of the earth", and Mark 10:34 has "after three days (meta treis emeras) he will rise again". As far as I can see from a quick look, the prophecies have "after three days", but the post-Resurrection narratives have "on the third day".

*laughs* Jin, you have too much time. In order to understand the Christian religion, you have to just accept it. Don't take everything so -literal- because obviously, it wasn't meant to be taken like that.

Yup I've got a large collection of those I've pulled from various sources. The fact is the Bible isn't the perfect document from god.

It's a faulty book by simple humans, Plain and simple.

As for hell, How can I believe in a place even the catholic church (the leading christian religion) doesn't believe in?

The pope has clearly said that hell according the catholic faith is a state of being without the presence of god. So in a sense I'm in hell now? Sweet!

EDIT: And actually, I have read the bible atleast twice over, The KJV, NIV and New Living Translation. (I think that was it, So many translations!).

They all contain many MANY contradictions and cannot be the work of a "perfect" being.

While ONE contradiction would spearhead that theory. I decided to show quite a few.

America is not a superior country... We may live richer, easier lives that people in other countries, but that doesn't make our country better. The privelages we have aren't God-given, and they certainly weren't earned through peace, justice, and liberty for all... We may have money, but we don't have dignity.

They really can't hold a decent debate but instead sink to insults not on the subject at hand, But the people IN the debate.

If you cannot contribute to the debate, don't bother posting.

Probably because everybody is getting sick of half the debates turning into religion and trash debates that go far off of what the thread was intended for. I could probably start a debate about smoking weed and somehow it will turn into a religion fight.

And I'll tell you exactly why.

People like John will bring up that it MAY or MAY NOT be against the bible to do said thing, without any bible verses to prove his point what-so-ever. Not to mention half of us don't put any stock in the bible.

And in John's mind just because he THINKS the bible he puts so much stock in says what he wants it to say he obviously won the said debate with flying colors.

And anyone who disputes this is obviously a liberal who believes in evolution and wants to go to hell.

The bible isn't good enough of an excuse to bring up for argument in a debate.

for all you guys that toss the bible out the window.... I recommend taking some time and reading up on why Christians believe that it is the word of God...

it isn't some ignorant belief.... there are reasons why they do....

I for one don't believe it is the infallable word of God, but I definately think it has divine origin and influence in it....
