I'm a baaaaaaad cracker. I crack all my finger knuckles (well, not the small ones at the tips of my fingers; the other two though, yes), I crack my back a lot, I crack my wrists, I can crack my thumbs over and over in rapid succession and in two directions, my neck, my elbows, my shoulders sometimes, my knees, elbows, every single one of my toes....

I crack all over. And yet, I feel fine. If it causes arthritis, I'm not too worried, as my entire family has it. It's kind of inevitable that I will. My parents told me that it would cause arthritis, and that it would make my knuckles big.

Well, 15 years later, my knuckles are very prominent on my hand. If I curl my hand into a fist, there's at least a 2cm deep 'valley' between my index finger and middle finger. My brother, sister and father have this as well, though, so I don't think about it too much.

Unfortunately, I do all the time. I do it before I play a video game, I do it before I get into school, I do it randomly, I just do it a lot. I picked up the habit from my girlfriend. Oh well. I'll probably get out of that habit.

I used to crack my knuckles until my joints started hurting a lot when I wrote for slightly long periods and then kept hurting. The doctor said it was onset arthritis due to low joint fluid so I had to stop.

Yep! In fact, I cracked my knuckles right before making this post. It's already been mentioned, but there is nothing wrong with cracking your knuckles, and hand paralysis and arthritis are really just myths to keep people from doing it. My stepmother claims that her arthritis was caused solely by cracking her knuckles. I.E, I cracked my knuckles, I have arthritis, therefore knuckle cracking causes arthritis logic. I don't believe it for one second, not that I would emphasize it that much in her face lol. But yeah, I've even heard that in moderation, it can even be quite therapeutic. Of course, I only crack my knuckles by lining my fingers up and bending them backwards. I dunno about people who push down hard on their fingers until they crack against their palms. The cracking itself might not necessarily cause arthritis, but that way of cracking knuckles, I suspect, might cause some form of damage. But even then, it would be the forcing of your hands into painful positions that causes the arthritis, not the actually cracking of knuckles.

I do a bit... whether or not it hurts depends on the way that I crack them. Usually I'll only do it once in a while, but overall I haven't done it as often as I'd used to.

DeltaEdge : It actually isn't even that that causes arthritis. There are quite a few types of arthritis, but none of which is caused by forcing your hands into uncomfortable or painful positions. There is rheumatoid arthritis, where the suspected culprit is streptococcus bacteria or an unknown virus. It is observed to be genetically inheritable too. There is gouty arthritis, which is caused by excessive amounts of uric acids being deposited as urate crystals in the soft tissues of your joints, and most of the time, the only affected area is the big toe. Then there is the common osteroarthritis which is when cartilage is being worn down faster than it is being replaced. That exposes hard bone and creates sharp spurs of the bones in your joints. This is also when the synovial fluid is lessening (the fluid cushion for the bones in your joints) is not being produced as much. Those are just old age things.

Bahaha, Yes I do pop my knuckles! I think I have been doing it since I was around four or five, probably five. I want to stop because arthritis is well, less than stellar.

Ahha, I crack my knuckles all the time. Bugs the crap out of my dad. XD He just tells me "Oh, you're gonna get arthritis." I just sit there and tell him "Eh, worth it." XD But the thing is, whenever I crack my knuckles my fingers feel better. Like if my Index finger is hurting, I pop it, and it feels better! So that's why I do it. xD I as well crack my back, neck, elbow sometimes, and sometimes I pop my ankle.. xD I think my whole body just likes to crack all the time. xD Like just now I popped my ankle. .-. I just love how grossed out people get by it. I'll crack my back in class and the person the behind me just completely freaks out and gives me this funny look, as if I did something completely disgusting. XD

Yeah, I do.  I don't always do it on purpose, but it feels so good to release that pressure.  When I stretch my lower back, I almost always pop it then too.  I don't want to, but that stupid habit is so hard to break.
