Hello

I've been watching some YouTube videos, and been thinking about how certain developers/companies got certain styles. As well, I've been thinking about how the gamer could recognize quality from the developer. For example, Tiertex was well known for terrible arcade ports. However, some developers may release a plethora of good games but then have one or two atrocious games that pops up...but what do you think?

Do you feel the developer/publisher significantly alters your decision in buying or playing a game? If so, which developers holds what sort of reputation for you?

My own personal experiences tend to give Sierra a bad wrap, as every game I played from them was absolutely terrible, or had some annoying critical flaws. I don't trust Sierra made games anymore, so...yeah.

Developers are a huge factor. I've played a game ported by Aspyer and I was able to find glitches in online play which only the mac version had on it. If someone shot me with a grenade I could jump and fly but people on the pc version could not do it. I got called a hack a lot My teammates were also able to kill me which again the pc version wouldn't do that. On top of that the lobby screen was completely unreadable I had to join a server based on its room icon and was really annoying. At least they succeeded in making it playable on mac. I only found 1 person online who had the mac version of it throughout my entire time there no wonder it got discontinued.

I don't like developers who rip ideas from similar games and turn it into a replica of that games style. One of the games I play develops and publishes their own games however the company has turned to garbage over the past few years and they are turning the games style into COD style which I hate. Oh well though, I enjoy the games and they should allow me to beta test new ones cause I am the biggest glitcher I even found a glitch in their shopping cart system online which gave me unlimited free copies of the game. Whenever I would get banned by their mods I would go to the cart and get a new cd key for free lol.

You can really tell quality by the developer, if their company is garbage then that pretty much overshadows any games they release. Games don't loose fans cause of the game its mostly cause of the developers bad decision making. When the developer ignores problems and people are having they will loose fans cause of horrible support and lack of effort they put into pleasing the audience.

Same thing can be said online with websites, not many sites have as good of developers and support as Vizzed has and that is what makes it stand out from the rest mainly the competition.

The development team doesn't really play a huge part in my choices of games, but I do like to know what is going on behind the scenes. I can notice quite a lot of similarities between Raven's FPSes. It's not a bad thing. The one company and developer(s) I almost always find quality games from is Bethesda, which has led me to trust them when it comes to quality.

The identity of the developers sometimes is obvious just by playing the game. Bayonetta was obviously made by a development team who included the guy who made the first Devil May Cry game. It's quite obvious that Square-Enix is good at making new IPs, yet they are like McDonalds. They take it safe. You can tell by how often games of existing IPs are made compared to new IPs.

Sucker Punch makes their development very evident when you know how well they write a story with crime groups like gangs involved.

If I'm getting a game in a new series or simply something I've never heard of, then who the developer is might make or break my decision.
On the other hand, if it's a sequel to a game I know and love, than even my most hated companies being on it isn't enough to deter me.
Nintendo generally means a buy. It's Nintendo, the greatest maker of games ever! I also like... EA. Yes, I enjoy most games EA makes, even their old games like the road rash series for the Sega genesis. But I downloaded the demo for an xbla game played it, liked it... and refused to buy it when I noticed the "Activision" logo. Ugh.

Yes, example: If is a Konami game... Will be good for sure! (But, there's some exceptions...)

If is a unknown depelover... I don't gonna know until I play it...

Yes certain developers are just terrible. Like Treyarch, I hate them. They made the Call of Duty series not very good...
But Infinityward is supposed to be making Modern warfare 3

Sierra games aren't that bad. Trackmania was there best game probably, I love that game!
