I'd suggest Goldeneye, I haven't seen a good "Let's Play" of it yet, and I haven't ever beaten the "Egyptian" level because I don't know what to do. |

Do a Let's Play for Fallout New Vegas. 90% of the time I look up one, the voice irritates me, and I can never watch their thing all the way through.
However, I have heard your voice, and it doesn't suck. Plus, I like to see how others play the game. However, I have heard your voice, and it doesn't suck. Plus, I like to see how others play the game. |

I would recommend playing a shorter and somewhat more obscure game.
Shorter games tend to hold the attention of both the player and the audience for the duration of the game much longer, ironically enough, and somewhat obscure games allow you to contribute something new to the Let's Play community while avoiding being lost in a sea of other Let's Plays of the same game, often by more popular let's players. The exact game should be up to you, as it should ideally either be a game that you either love, or love to hate. "Short and somewhat obscure" should hopefully give you some ideas, though. Well, since nobody has given you feed back yet, I'll take a crack at it. But don't take any offense please, it's just criticism! Your audio levels for your voice and the game is pretty solid and balanced. Although your audio levels tend to vary a little bit; so try to speak in the same levels. If you need to, you can also edit the audio in something like Audacity if you can keep game audio and commentary separate. I found a few of the times you would be dead quiet/not talking at all, and then suddenly you would shout something out louder, and I was constantly adjusting my speakers. A good example was when the credits at the introduction of the game were rolling. For SNES, video quality is fine, and has excellent framerate. So that's really good. I prefer framerate over video quality but having both makes it really good. As for the actual commentary itself though, I feel that it is kind of... "bland" I guess I would put it. You make jokes, but to me they just aren't really making me laugh. I do enjoy witty commentary but yours I guess isn't working that way. For great witty commentary, I suggest you look at the Let's Player "Kikoskia". My favorite Let's Player in the entire world, and will probably be yours too. He sometimes literally brings me to tears laughing, and I am not exaggerating. I have literally cried in happiness sometimes because of that man. And he does a whole bunch of games I never even knew about. Generally, these are bad games, that are so bad... he and them are just a perfect combo. Anyways, final verdict on this topic is that if you need witty commentary pointers, watch him, you will not ever regret it. He will teach you without even trying and you will like it as well. Win win situation, no? Finally, if you ever find yourself not able to find anything to talk about, a lot of commentators will make a short list of things to talk about and keep it at the side for them to look at. This way you never have any quiet moments without commentary that can destroy the balance of such. (For cutscenes and such not talking is fine. Just make sure you don't talk too much during game dialogue. The viewer shouldn't have to split their attention.) Alternatively, you can read the text as well or try 'voicing' the characters (Which is better in my opinion). And as a general tip in my opinion, heavy swearing generally doesn't add humor. I hear far many times when something happens, all I hear plenty of times is "What the f**k??" and it just never makes me laugh, in fact, sometimes it makes me rage quit said commentator if I hear it far too often. As for actual games you should do? I'm not sure. If this is new to you, you could try playing fun little games that will force something out of you and make the commentary sound far more natural, such as Syobon action. It's a funny game, a hard one, but it's short. I think it may be perfect to do as a demo run. I'd say do games that you'd like, but reach outside the box once in a while; try to mix it up a little bit. Well, since nobody has given you feed back yet, I'll take a crack at it. Yeah I agree that my commentary is -meh-, one of my close friends HeavensFrogman even told me as feedback on Youtube and I totally agreed with him. At the time when recording, I made it clear that I was not happy playing through the first half of the game.
So needless to say I need to pick up a game I enjoy playing from start to finish and see how well I can commentate over that. Maybe something a little spooky to spice things up a bit. I dunno, it's something that I always wanted to try out was a game that was going to freak me out. Also my voice audio levels were taken from my PS3 eye. And granted, while the voice quality is great. I had the camera far away from me so at times even -I- could not hear me talking. Ah, HeavensFrogman. ![]() I think he did a little thing with Kikoskia too, I'm not too sure though. I know he has done a few things with Dreamer7G though. [I honestly loved their Wheel of Fortune Let's play for the SNES. They had me laughing hardcore at some moments.] Amnesia The Dark Descent may be a good game for a spooky one. Granted, yes, I know that it's a well over done game. However, a game like that, people tend to watch more then one play through. I know I've watched at least four; yes -- four play through's of it. So while there are lots of Let's plays of it, it's better then something like another Final Fantasy 7... But not by too much more. Also Amnesia may not even be your style of game, and you may not enjoy it. Either way, I still think Syobon Action is a good one. There will be a lot of moments that will bring out your initial reaction, it's only 4 MB in size, and absolutely free to download. The game is one of those 'You're gonna die a lot' games... If you don't know what you're doing. My first try at the game was only 38 deaths. And I've seen others have well over 200. Another good game may be "Spelunky" It's free, and every playthrough is different because every single level is randomly generated. You will die a lot in Spelunky too, but it will never get old. And almost all deaths are comical. Very entertaining for the viewers to say the least. Kikoskia did a Let's play on that as well so you could always watch that for a general feel. And last but not least... Get a mic. XD Ah, HeavensFrogman. ![]() I think he did a little thing with Kikoskia too, I'm not too sure though. I know he has done a few things with Dreamer7G though. I do have a mic! I am just having problems adjusting audio levels that match with the game. But I can get that worked out for another game I had planned.
I'm going to delete those FF3 videos from youtube and start on another game that's not been played to death and a game I actually like! I also see that Kikoskia played Doom3. So THATS out of the picture. And here I was hoping I would play that game. Ah well! Doom 3, Deus Ex and Spelunky are probably one of the only couple games that he has done that have been played a few times already. If you really want to see some of his witty commentary on something that hasn't been done, watch his Let's Play of "Super Mario World".... Super Mario World on the SEGA I made add. It isn't what it sounds... Or maybe it does. Point is I watched that far too many times. Deus Ex Human Revolution is something I won't be LPing. The original game is something I love but I can't put that love into making it entertaining.
Games like Fallout 3 / New vegas I was asked to do for a good while now because I actually played those games with friends over and it was the most hilarious time we had. We really never ment to break the game, but instead we made the most asinine characters and just traveled the world discussing politics and how bad people really needed lotion. I honestly wished I was recording when making those videos because to this day we continue to talk about it like memes on the internet. There are also a few retro games that for some reason I like and everyone else hates. No one wants to watch those. It's hard choosing a game I really like to record my reactions playing them. I personally would love to do Let's Plays, however, I'm picky when it comes to playing new games. And I my voice is hard to understand because of a speech defect I have (Although that's the reason I want to do Let's Plays; because I want to work on lessening my speech defect) And even though I'm turning 18 in 6 days, I'm pretty sure that I still sound like a 12-13 year old. But I can't for many reasons. I don't have enough energy to do it, I'm extremely shy, so I'm pretty sure my commentary would be rather awful. My family will more likely then not get in the way during recording sessions, and finally... I don't actually have a mic to record my voice with. The last one I had got... well, squished, really. (My brother is a heavy sod apparently) and my computer couldn't even use mics before I got Windows 7 on it. I'm not sure if it can even use mics now; I haven't been able to get one to try that out. Well I stutter so don't feel bad when doing this. I wanted to make LPs as well because it's not only fun (Sometimes) but it helps curve my stuttering. |

I stutter, stall, slur (badly) and fuse two words or even so much as two sentences together sometimes, which can make absolutely no sense at all. Example: How much do you want? = What much do you want? What amount do you want? I do this a lot. Doesn't do me favors especially when presenting at school. v_v I stutter, stall, slur (badly) and fuse two words or even so much as two sentences together sometimes, which can make absolutely no sense at all.
