I will start by saying that Pokémon Rebirth might actually be funner than the official Pokémon Emerald. Previously one of a kind Pokémon that you would normally begin a game with, are now plentiful on the very first route out of Littleroot Town. You can even catch Togepi there. Basically, if it is a Professor provided Pokémon (PPP, I know, LOL) it will appear on that route. They can be a bit hard to catch though. I would advise whizzing through the trainers ranks once you get a few good Pokémon, so that you can stock up on Poke Balls. I always buy ten at a time because a minimum purchase of ten gets me a free Premier Ball. Trust me. It is so satisfying to get all the PPP's on your team. Enough about what I like, let's get into what makes the game so awesome.

DIFFICULTY

While keeping the basic struggle of Pokémon Emerald intact, Pokémon Rebirth adds convenience to the layout of certain areas. Jumpable ledges have been removed in key places. This allows you speed right through that annoying maze like forest that appears in every Pokémon game. You can even get to spots that would ordinarily require cutting down a tree without needing the badge and HM for CUT. Extra passages through caves, neat new bridges crisscrossing bodies of water and little alternate routes opened up if you want to avoid trainers and face them later; these are the things that make Pokémon Rebirth a player's game. As much as it pains me, I must give this segment a nine because Rebirth is slightly more open-minded than the mother game.

DEPTH

This version is so much bigger all at once than other games. All avenues of travel are opened immediately. There is this Cave of Origin that I didn't even know was there in other games. I expect to find very rare Pokémon there. I have been able to catch so many brilliant Pokémon already. There is also a rearranging of the Pokémon locations so that you can encounter new species all over the map. There is even wild evolved forms that don't appear in Pokémon Emerald. It is going to take a while to get all my Pokémon battle ready so that I can strike out in all directions as the game allows.

STORY

Same story as Pokémon Emerald, but with ways around the basic preordained event sequence. I could send Wally back to Verdanturf and beat Wattson and the Trick Master and go back to beat Brawly and Roxanne later. I can now choose which path to take first. Sweet!

ADDICTIVE

Oh, yes. I am hooked.

SOUND and GRAPHICS

The music is splendid. That is something I have come to expect from the advance games. I didn't expect my party Pokémon to light up and dance as I sent them out. That was quite cool. Moving sprites are reserved for some of the best games. I like how Pikachu zaps to attention when he enters battle. Picture all the originals with their own little dance. The music and sounds are on par with all Pokémon advance games and the Pokémon sprites have a super extra flair to them. Not a single glitch discovered. Flawless work!
