I read The Color Purple by Alice Walker some time ago, but I never got to finish it because I read it in the school library and I forgot to borrow it before summer vacation started.

But I definitely love the format it's on. The book is all written in a letter format, usually by the main character (it's first person) and usually to God. It's a lovely book. The grammar is too good to be realistic, but there are sufficient spelling errors (purposely made) that gives the reader an idea of how the main characters talk and a bit of the main character's personality as well.

Man, I want to finish reading it.

I recently read the Catcher in the Rye and I must say...I am a changed person now after reading it....I don't think I will ever be able to look at people or even myself the same way after reading it. My teacher told us that is the 7th most banned book in America and it is a book that many people use as the reason behind doing something like when John Lennon was shot.

This book is simply amazing and I can understand why my English teacher had such high hopes for this book and also why he never stopped talking about it throughout the whole year. Altogether, this book is amazing and I strongly recommend reading it.

I am nearly finished with Mary Higgins Clark's Where are you now?, and I must say that at first I didn't expect much from the book. Now I'm half-way through and I've just been gobbling up every page after another. I highly recommend it to those who like thrillers and mysteries, and would like to try out something new.

I've been reading the guardians of ga'hoole series. It is one of the, if not the best Book series i have ever read. It has a great story, and the characters feel real. It is pretty action packed, but it has some moments where the action stops and it turns into a more calm story, and then it goes back to the action. I would recommend this book series to anyone who likes action packed stories.

The last book I read was The Great Gatsby. I liked the book, even though it was a class assignment (Which in my school 99% of class assigned novels were terrible). Afterwards, we watched the movie (Leonardo DiCaprio version), which in my opinion was pretty good.

I'm currently reading a book, but the book I finished recently is "Dreams. The Thoughts and Opinions of Sigmund Freud", or something like that. It was actually pretty good, but Sigmund Freud still gets a lot of hate from a lot of psychiatrists.

After watching several media adaptions of it, I decided to reread A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett again.

I realize that even though it's a children's book, it's a bit more grim than the adaptions that I've seen so far. Maybe that's why I like reading the book more than seeing the adaptions of it.

I may need to buy a hardback copy one day, the paperback that I own is starting to wear at the bindings.

I read a manga called Velvet Kiss. It was pretty good, and the story was rather nice. Not much else to say about it, really, but I liked it.

I'm currently doing a Sophie Kinsella books reading marathon, the last ones I've finished are 'I've Got Your Number' and 'Can You Keep a Secret'. I've enjoyed both but I like the former more. Awhile ago I started reading 'The Undomesticated Goddess' and I'm liking it as well. I'll read her Shopaholic series last since there are many books under it.

As for the anime-manga world, I've just finished watching and reading(up to the latest chapter)Kamisama Hajimemashiita. I'm loving the main villain (Akura-ou). Too bad he wasn't even introduced properly in the anime.

edit- changed KH's title a bit, it shouldn't be double "i". System decided to sensor it earlier because it thinks I'm saying the "s" word.

I just finished reading The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

I like it, but it didn't move me as much as her other work, A Little Princess. Perhaps it could be because I read it first?

Anyways, I felt like the book switches main characters halfway in the story, which is pretty new for me. I'm always used to having the same main character begin and end the story.

Still, it's a very nice and uplifting book that, like A Little Princess, introduces the hardships that the characters face and ends with their happy ending.

I just finished reading The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck, and wow!

It's like watching (or in this case, reading) a soap opera, but in a completely different time with completely different cultural traditions and values. It's like, I can't predict what happens next because of those things, yet the book makes it seem like it's supposed to be predictable.

And it's not so hard of a read either, I recommend it.

I own a two-volume set containing every single Sherlock Holmes novel and short story ever published. Shortly after I bought it I found out the stories are in the public domain now. D'oh!

They're actually really good. The novels are much better, because they have far more time to tell a story. I feel like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle maybe wasn't that good of an author for short stories (pause for the sound of booing) because he doesn't flesh out as much as he probably should.

Irene Adler, for example, was supposed to be this huge mastermind, the only person, let alone woman (hey, it was the 1910's) who ever outsmarted Holmes. She was quick-witted, highly intelligent, and light on her feet. Of course, her only actual show of outsmarting Holmes in the books was when she figured out that Holmes was watching her and ran away. Hardly a criminal mastermind.

Then there's The Five Orange Pips, which was the basis for the introduction of Moriarty in the excellent television adaptation, Sherlock. That story was actually a huge disappointment. Holmes didn't really do anything. I know that if I got five orange pips in the mail and that every member of my family who had received them so far was murdered for not complying with the K.K.K.'s demands, I would put out a note saying the papers had been burned immediately, not gone to a specialist for advice, and certainly not waited two days to do so!

So Holmes gives this common sense advice to the poor bastard, who is murdered, and then off-screen he goes and figures out whodunnit, and then we don't even get to meet the person whodunnit because they die in a shipwreck. Come on!

The novels are much better, and there's a reason I'm so engrossed in them, but if you want a beginner's introduction into the series, the BBC's Sherlock is probably the way to go. Decide if you like that, then read the books. Believe it or not, the conversion is really good.

My favorite book is the Call of the Wild by Jack London. I just finished reading it again. Obviously, I absolutely love it! The story takes place in the 1890s in the Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush. Its about a dog named Buck and his transition from a warm California home, to a life in the bitter cold as a sled dog in the Yukon. Its one of the rare stories I like that actually has somewhat of a sad ending to it.

Well read different mangas daily so I am reading multiple of them at the same time snce I have to wait for the next chapter of each one to come out, but I recently finished reading this one called, Mahou Sensei Negima! and well it was a pretty long and worthy story I am currently reading the sequel to that manga, I just have to say it's a great adventure with some twist when the story was over I felt like I had a void in my life because I usually spent my free time reading the manga, but recently I have also read Sword Art Online the light novel and I must say I have loved every part of it, I am also following the manga for this one so my reccomendation read light novels and manga it's hard to regret.

sop281 : I read that one it was a pretty good plot regardless of anything else would you mind if I add you we seem to have similar interests ^w^
