My first 2 shiny Pokemon were hatched. I wasn't even trying to get a shiny those times, I just did. One was an Elekid and the other was a Pichu. That was back in gen II. I didn't get another shiny until Gen V, when I got a shiny Zebstrika.

Well to be honest I only played through gen1,gen2, gen3 (except for some reason I dont remember beating the Pokemon League, just that I traded over my parties twice, (mixed types, every time different pokemon) and then retraded them over to my 3rd new game. My only shiny was a Drowzee in gen 2. It was wild, so no never hatched one.

I've hatched a couple Pokemon using the Masuda method, namely a Gligar and a Togepi, in Gen IV. I suppose you could always try the RNG thing, but that seems complicated.
