The most important thing is maturity.

If you are active, and have the qualities of a mod, you can apply when the apps come up.

If you are among the best candidates, you will be picked.

Some people take a year to become one, some never become one, some do it in a few months.

If you want to be a moderator, you need to be a good user.

Being a mod will not only take all those aforementioned qualities and requirements, but I must be diligent, and take it seriously, like enforcing the rules of the site, chat room, and forum alike.
