This is going to be a rant, and I honestly don't know where to start; I am so frigging angry, depressed, half SCARED even of what I had to do today to just simply get home. Last night the area was hit by a powerful storm. It knocked power out in several areas. The school was out of power too, but refused to cancel the day. Teachers got mad, and half of them didn't come, students in the area were informed, and almost no students came to school today. Being an out of bounds student, I didn't hear this news until after I got to the school. I was told to go home, and with so few students, the buses would NOT be coming to pick anybody up. Excuse me? You just forced me to come from a 2 hour drive, and you just told me to go home? With no form of transportation OR communication to get transportation? Are you KIDDING me? The closest friend near the school lives over 12 KM away. I literally had to hike the highway, as another storm was brewing, past 7 KM of construction, on a highway where in the last three days BEARS had been sighted because it's mating season. I had to hike 12KM in bloody windy rain to get to my friend's house JUST so I could ask if I could get a ride home when they got back from work. I am so astounded by the absolutely terrible decisions made by my school board, I literally won't be surprised if some charges are laid out; I wasn't the only one stranded like that, but at least everyone else generally had a friend in town. I didn't. I had to hike to the NEXT town to go home.

Wow that really sucks they should have at least had transporation for 
the students who didn't hear and came anyway.
And hopefully you don't get sick for walking in the rain for that long.

Dude, that really sucks. Hopefully something will smack the sense back into our school board, because what they did was completely retarded. I would probably start a strike.

Bloody heck... The school board should be sued! No, I'm serious. What if you were attacked by a bear?
Or worse, kidnapped? Murdered? A drunk driver crashing into you? That's all bad!

Beside, if you've been stranded in the storm, you could develop severe diseases that applies to a lawsuit. 

But seriously, I hope you're okay! The school board NEED to shape up and slap some common sense in their faces.

Snowdeath : vizwiz123 : crazycatpup : I didn't get sick. Luckily despite the fact it was 30 degrees C (That's 86 Farenheit), I still wore a sweater with a hoodie. I was able to protect myself from the storm very well (I always wear the sweater because it has lots of pockets, which I can hold my house key, bus pass, my Nintendo DS for entertainment with earphones for the DS and computer work, and finally my USB device without the chance of getting wet or crushed if they were in my bag). I would be surprised if the school board doesn't get sued, some teachers are almost planning to go on strike, even. This isn't the first time they pulled something like this, not making it a snow day when it was one of the worst blizzards we ever had 3 years ago. And to no surprise, a school bus slid off the road loaded with students and landed in a ditch and had to be towed out. Edit: Dammit, I can't do multiple replies.

Likewise, I'd be very surprised if they didn't get sued, because that is the WRONG thing to do to students.

Snowdeath : I have a winter rain coat. I don't wear though because it's summer currently. It actually doesn't block the cold very well as much as it does with water though. I just opt to a simple thin sweater for that day and very glad I did. It was good because it blocked out the sun on my skin so I didn't get sun burned before the storm hit (mind you, the storm came very quickly. Sunny one moment, raining the next 15), and I obviously didn't get very wet because none of my skin was really exposed. (Only my face, which was under the hoodie). It also has earphones built into the shirt, which is kind of cool but the quality of them is really bad. No bass whatsoever and they are pretty quiet. I would also summon Crazycatpup: Next post unless this one allows me, but I don't wish to break the double posting rule.
