I know how you feel, I have 3 dogs and the oldest starts howling in the middle of the night for no reason some times. I think he gets bad nightmares... On top of that he wakes up my little sister who refuses to go back to sleep and wakes us all up... I dispise those nights!

Maybe play some light music in the background to help you get to sleep. I find I can sleep easier with something going on in the back. Plus, it'll drown out the barking. Just make sure that whatever you're playing with has a sleep function on it.
