Hi! I'm Matt, a Vissed user as of yesterday in the UK.

This forum seems to have a good amount of activity from nice (non-trolling) people; quite rare these days.

With that in mind, I thought this would be a good opportunity to ask about opinions of GM crops. It's quite a controversial topic at the moment and I find it interesting to know what the opinions of people around the world are regarding this issue.

If posting a reply, it would be great if you could add the following:

Opinion: Yes/No and a little about why

Country you are currently living in

and anything else relating to the issue that you think is worth mentioning.

I'm studying plant biology at university currently, and while I do have a massively biased opinion on this subject I'm not going to share it (at least not yet) because I don't want to skew other peoples points of view.

Thanks very much, hope I didn't write too much here

I am a scientist myself and I support GM (genetically-modified) crops. Before I really researched the crops it didn't really matter to me one way or the other. I researched GM corn and found good research that GM corn was the best corn to place on the market. The study was from Pubmed and compared GM corn, regular corn, and organic corn. All corn as a small amount of bacteria on it- the bacteria in the study is known to increase the chances of a miscarriage in pregnant women. The study " followed" groups of women with a heavy corn diet who already bought the three different types of corn. Women with the GM corn had less miscarriages than the women who ate regular corn. Also the women who ate regular corn had a less miscarriages than the women who ate organic corn. This is because the bacteria is left from the bugs who ate the corn in the field. Due to GM modification the GM corn had the least bacteria. The regular corn had a medium level of bacteria due to pesticide use (which I personally wouldn't recommend chemical pesticides). Then the organic corn had the highest level of the bacteria from a lack of protection againt the bugs.
