There is a quote that says a friendship is like a bucket of water, where it fills up and one drop is responsible for it overflowing with kind acts.

At what moment do you consider another person a real friend?

When they prove their trustworthy to me, im not quite sure how... but if i am able to leave my personal affects around you and 100% trust when i come it will all be there. Thats the point i consider you my friend.

I don't know if I've ever recognized the point where they become my "true friend"... Or if there even is really one thing they can do that turns them in to a real friend.

I guess the test of time would prove it. I can go without talking to my best friends for months and then hang out with them and pick up conversations as if no time has passed.

When they speak to me with trust and I can speak to them with trust. I make friends easily, but even in my eyes there is such a thing as an acquaintance or a work/school friend.

Well when we share eachothers real names and bond over some simularity in addition to exchanging some sort of contact like email or phone number. That always confirms our friendship to me.

OMG. In my poem that I made for my friend that I had strong feelings for, I compared our friendship to something mundane; an overflowing bucket of water! What a coincidence!

I consider someone a real friend when we both feel comfortable talking to each other and tell each other personal things. My best friends are, as my good friend put it, someone I'd "take twenty bullets for". After the first twenty, you're on your own lol jk.

It all boils down to trust. For me, it's basically when I feel I know them well enough to trust them with secrets that I don't share with everyone I know.

Truthfully, I can't answer this question since I don't ever remember...anyways... what it boils down to is being able to trust the person and the person can trust you. Specifically, the person must prove reliable and dependable but those qualities are frankly much rarer than it should be in modern society...

I didn't read any of the responses beyond noticing that many of them mentioned trust.

For me I consider someone a friend if I feel comfortable being around them to the point where I don't feel like I have to "make" conversation with them. Things just flow naturally.

I feel think someone's your friend is when you can hang out with them and talk with them. A best friend is someone you can up to and ask them to help you kill someone with no questions asked

I asked WHEN do they become your friend? When is the moment they actually are comfortable with you and you trust them?

Oh I guess I misunderstood.

I would say that somebody becomes my friend when they prove to me that I can trust them and where I am able to have great talks with them or talk about things I wouldn't talk to somebody else about and fully trust them with it. Or somebody can also become a friend to me just by there personality or the way I see then treating others and the respect shown from them. Alot of things can fall into that question.

This really happens when there is respect and humbleness.

warmaker : From my PS3: In my experience the best way to know if you have a friend is through experiences you might share. Things that make you similar to another person such as interests and such also help but for me it comes down to experiences. It is also good if you have someone who has proven to be a true friend by being there for you in your time of need or, by relying on them to do something important for you that you yourself might not be able to do at the time.

Circumstances like that can indirectly test someone's character by asking them to do an important task. At the same time however it can go a long way in determining whether or not you can put your trust and faith in someone. Unfortunately for yours truly I had many acquaintances that I spent years in some cases believing were really my friends that I found in time really were not. I do believe though that it is good to forgive those who may have wronged you in the past and it is good to at the minimum hear those people out. For me I spent years holding quite a bit of anger towards some of those acquaintances that I mentioned. It wasn't until I was forced to enter social media for my work that I had to deal with some of those people from my past in some cases after many years of silence.


Some of those said acquaintances have re-entered my life and in some cases things may be repaired in time where I may very well consider them friends at some point. I can only hope now that years have past that we're all wiser people given that we are older and hopefully have gone through things that matured us. I know I sure have. The odd thing is because I have to be approachable due to being kind of a public figure being in the media and all that it forced me to deal with these things that I've been angry about for years. I will be honest though when I say that if I had nothing to do with media if I wasn't a journalist and, was just someone that worked a would be regular job under the radar so to speak that I probably wouldn't have given many of these people the time of day. I'm sure gglad though that I had to deal with these issues and was able to get some stuff off my chest and thus opened the door to give people a second chance.


That is one reason why I'm happy that a website like Vizzed exists because although there are many great games that allow me to ever so briefly go back to my youth, Vizzed allows me the opportunity to share my wisdom from the things that I've been through and offer advice and help people. If I can help someone simply by offering advice and having a sympathetic ear and that advice allows someone to make things better for themselves and or, feel better about themselves then I personally feel like I've done something good and worth while and that's all I ever really want to do.

I consider someone my friend when I feel like we have mutual trust, and I feel comfortable telling them just about anything. I tell all my closest friends loads of personal things about me and I trust them enough not to tell anyone outside the circle.
