Insomnia, my friend is so depressed at times due to insecurity she cannot get a wink of sleep.

I don't even know why, I guess maybe because although she is in a relationship, her guy is kinda unstable and reliable and that makes me sad. She has a good job and is so good looking she could go and meet someone new on the internet, but really is that what she wants, all this plenty of fish in the sea.

Her doctor has presribed her sleeping tablets, they really only work for a few hours!

what can she do to get some sleep?

Exercise, followed by routine, followed by getting up early every morning.

Have her eat healthy too. No more of this fast food, fried food, fatty food nonsense. Eat some healthy stuff, prepare food at home, and control her calories.

She can drink more water while she's at it.

Lastly, get her to develop a routine. I know when I go to bed and I do the same thing pretty much every night as a cool down process to let me know it's bed time. I never have a problem falling asleep or staying asleep. I'm in bed by 10:00 and up around 6:00 am. It's a pleasant schedule.

Exercise during the day, enough to exert/exhaust you, will leave you feeling very tired at bedtime and it will be much easier to sleep. I know it's not possible every day, but it helps.

Another option is reading directly before bed, so that your mind is on the story instead of wandering to something that may be unpleasant and prevent you from sleeping.

Another option is audio books or other relaxing tapes/sound effects that are designed for falling asleep- These really help me. Even though I am not insomniac, sometimes I have trouble getting to sleep. I find that listening to someone read or speak softly is not only extremely relaxing, but I can simply focus on what they're saying instead of letting stressful worries invade my mind. It doesn't work for everyone but it could be worth a try.

I have another suggestion that I will PM you.

I recently found out that de-stressing before bed makes for better sleeping. Here are some things that might help:
1. Take time to wind down.
2. Exercise, will make ur body use some effort and that natural feeling of being tired will come with some. The body will want to wind down. A bit of exercise. It will also relieve stress. (but I am sure u u know most of this, but I am merely maybe if anything making a reminder )
3. Do some deep breathing.
4. Take a hot bath.
5. Brew some tea.
6. Aromatherapy

10. Blow bubbles. Not literally, but in your mind. One relaxation technique that Dr. Walsleben recommends is to imagine that you’re outside with a jar of soap bubbles. Watch yourself slowly blowing each one until the soap jar is empty. Though what I have tried is (imagine that screensaver where the stars just keep going further into the screen, well I just let my mind get pulled in, in hopes of eventually slipping into slumber) This one doesn't work well for me though.
