DBDonald :   I love anime, so I go through a few at a time.  I just finished To Love Ru Darkness season two...VERY ecchi in an almost uncomfortable way.  I am watching Madan no Ou to Vanadis which is pretty good so far, and also Grisaia no Kajitsu and Grisaia no Rakuen.  The first was amazing and so messed up but very much worth watching.  Also, another I am cycling through is Gokukoku no Brynhildre.  That one is really good as well so far.  Always waiting for the new Dragon Ball Super to come out, and always disappointed, but a loyal fan is a loyal fan.  Another one I just started is Sai Jaku Muhai no Bahamut.  I have seen the first episode only so far, but it seems ok.  I gave Needless a try as well, and watched the first episode.  Not sure about that one, but I never judge a show by the first episode, unless it says it's ecchi.  I am always on the lookout for new ones to watch.  I have seen so many that it's getting hard to find ones I haven't seen that will keep my interest.  Feel free to list some favorites that I can check out.  I don't watch TV anime like Bleach or Naruto, Dragon Ball being the sole exception.  And when I say TV anime, I mean American TV.  I have no idea what they let kids watch in Japan

Right now, I'm watching the anime called Death Parade. Usually, I don't tend to watch anything too "dark" (I did enough of that in my younger days), but once in a while, I still watch some of the emotionally heavy series like this one, which is about arbiters judging human souls. So far, I'm enjoying the series. (I'm on the last episode now. rofl)

The last anime I was watching was Fairy Tail! I decided like to do a marathon of the anime. It was great watching some of the old episodes again, and funny too. XD

I was not sure if this would be ultimately classified as anime or movie first, but I decided to settle on anime. I mean it is in fact both but anyway, I digress. The last anime I watched was The Tale of Princess Kaguya. I'm familiar with Studio Ghibli's reputation, but I had never before seen any of their works firsthand. (Yes, including Princess Mononoke which I will be watching tonight!) I thought it was just sublime, amazing, sooooooo good. Everything about the movie is so masterfully crafted, I particularly like the drawings of nature and the way the movement is animated.

pinkeyedtree : Personally, I think those are movies that count as anime too (they're animated films =P ), so no worries~ lol XD But wow! You chose some amazing ones to watch! Hope you enjoy them (I know I certainly did  )!

Right now, I am watching the anime called Akame ga Kill! A few people have recommended this series to me for a while now, but I kept putting it off because they said it was a series about killing and assassins. Anyways, I am now halfway through the series and so far, this series reminds me of Shikabane Hime (Corpse Princess) because the team fights involve characters with some odd personalities, and also Phantom - Requiem for the Phantom because the main characters never asked to join the fights but they still ended up trying to survive through similar situations/types of trouble.

Yuna1000 :
They were really good...I'm actually really glad I never watched them before. At the peak of my anime viewing, I might not have been able to give these movies the focus and attention they truly deserve! Princess Mononoke was really good and powerful in its own right, but I have to say I preferred The Tale of Princess Kaguya. That anime is in my top 3 for sure. Just for stories in general it's rates incredibly high with me.

Tonight I'll be watching an anime I watched years ago, called Samurai 7. It's heavily character and moral oriented, and I always enjoyed that. A story of noble men who will fight to protect those who can't protect themselves. These types of stories aren't exactly uncommon throughout history, but I still enjoy them. If I recall correctly, it takes place in an interesting fictional time period which seems to be a technologically advanced feudal Japan. I'm hoping it will be as good as I remember! I wish I had a better sense of exploration for this medium, because I'd love to really get into another feudal Japan-era anime. I have such peculiar tastes sometimes >.<

I just started watching an anime called Laughing Under The Clouds (or Donten Ni Warau). I've watched the first 3 episodes so far, and I'm enjoying it. It's about 3 brothers who's responsibilities are to ferry prisoners to the middle of Lake Biwa where there is a giant prison complex. I'm a big fan of stories that involve strong brotherhoods.

I started watching One Piece again yesterday. We'll see if I can do another 70 episodes before I take another nearly 2 year break from it.

I just got done watching the entirety of Madoka Magica. This is the first anime that has ever made me cry. That's all I am going to say so I do not spoil anything for anyone here.

I'm watching Steins Gate (though a bit irregularly as I'm still busy with essays, reports and whatnot). I initially gained an interest in it after seeing the game on the PSN store and found the a copy of the first volume of the manga for only 3 dollars (brand new and sealed) which I decided to get. After that it peaked my interest in the anime and after seeing it had a pretty positive reception, I gave it a shot and have been watching it since. I would say it's a pretty unique and interesting series though I'm only a few episodes in.

pinkeyedtree : Oh my! You were watching some pretty good anime and anime films for a while! XD And Samurai 7 too? lol Wow! If you have peculiar tastes, then so do some of us (cough like me cough), so no worries! lol Personally, The Tale of Princess Kaguya and Princess Mononoke both rank extremely high on my list because I love Studio Ghibli's and Isao takahata's animated films (Isao takahata was the one that made Grave of the Fireflies, another animated masterpiece). Have you seen that one (Grave of the Fireflies)?

Right now, I am finishing up the 11-episode anime called Tokyo Magnitude 0.8. In general, the story is about a fictional major earthquake that occurs in Japan, although it was said that a lot of research went into developing and producing this story to make the disaster as realistic as possible. When I started to watch the show, I thought it would be a story like Grave of the Fireflies, but over time, I began to think that Tokyo Magnitude 0.8 was actually created to teach the future generations of Japan about what happens in Japan when major earthquakes occur, what they should do when such a natural disaster does happen to strike, and how to cope with living and life after tragic events like those. Like many other stories, the anime series tries to portray the human spirit, and how people will do their best to struggle against all sorts of inconceivable odds just to be able to make it back home to their loved ones.

As with some of the other disaster stories, this series tried to give its audience the sense that people should try to stay positive even in the worst of times and even during a crisis, they should cherish all the time that they have together with their families and the other people around them who are trying to help them or who are in need of comfort (or that are in mourning). The messages were very subliminal at first, but as the story went on and new facets of the story were presented, the audience is supposed to become increasingly more aware of some of doctrines and ideas that the series wanted to present, such as just how fragile and strong humans really are, and how sometimes we make hasty assumptions about strangers. For instance, the main character girl's attitude towards the lady who eventually tried to help her was actually pretty terrible until the lady ends up saving her life several times from the various unfortunate events including almost being crushed by the falling ceiling and almost being separated from the girl's brother in a giant, panicked crowd. Also, throughout the story, the audience learns from the news that was constantly being broadcast in the background that what the girl and the victims of the disaster were seeing in the cities was actually different from what was being related via the news outlets.

In my opinion, the way the story unfolded was supposed to parallel the way the main character girl grows and matures as a person throughout the series when, as a result of the devastating earthquake and meeting a lady that ends up trying to help the girl and her brother make it back to their house, she learns about things that her parents and her younger brother never told her (at the beginning of the story, she had made plenty of incorrect assumptions), and it was almost too late for them to become a family again. It was rather indirect, but the story also hinted that one should probably refrain from making wishes that they don't actually want to have happen, or from thinking terrible or negative thoughts that might cause the heavens to want to punish those people (that part was just my interpretation though, based on how the story was presented).

Yuna1000 :
Yes, I love anime that incorporates samurai or bushido. Characters with deep loyalty and respect always catch my attention. I've actually watched Samurai 7 through a few times, and another particular anime with samurai, I've watched definitely over 20 times! >.< This is mostly because I don't know of many anime and I don't follow what's coming out, but it's also something I do with shows or movies I like intensely. I'm going to watch that animated film Grave of the Fireflies, sometime soon. Thanks for the recommendation!   I'm a big fan of is tragedy, so it certainly looks interesting. Princess Kaguya is a magnificently shining example of tragedy to me.

The last anime I watched was Fist of the North Star. It's been a while since I last seen it, so I began with the beginning (lol). It's a pretty good anime, I enjoy it. The animation is not very impressive to me, but luckily it's not what I enjoy about the show. I enjoy it mostly for the post apocalyptic event setting and the desperation of the world. I don't know if I'm going to continue watching it though, it's a bit too many episodes for me right now.
