Yup, you read it right. I don't think any "official" announcement has been made or else it'd already be on the Chrono Compendium.

Remember Nate? The guy who built our site? Well, his wife does my hair. Anyway, I was over at their house a few nights ago getting my hair cut and I mentioned something about the petition to Nate. As nonchalantly as ever, he asked, "What's the rush to get so many signatures? Square has already said they're gonna do it."

I said, "What?"

He told me "I found it online... Some kind of word from Square that they've decided to go ahead and do the remake."

"Do you remember where you saw this?"

"Sorry, man. I was at work and I was in a hurry."

I'm getting no luck googling anything about this... Maybe y'all might know where to look though? Maybe they've decided to do a Chrono-Trigger-esque game, but not exactly a remake? Just something else that involves time travel?

I hate to say it, but I don't think our work is over yet Jake. Surely you of all people know how massive this news would be. It'd be ALL OVER the internet by now. If you can't find it in a Google search, a newsbreak as massive as that just simply doesn't exist. Maybe your friend got confused when he saw one of the fan remakes? Or maybe he just came across some old April Fool's story? I am not completely cancelling out the possibility, but I truly do not believe such a story could be kept a secret along the internet very long... nor do I believe some normal guy could have some how gotten S-E top-secret information. It just doesn't add up.

So my answer? It is almost certain that your friend is incorrect. The result? The petition continues...

I agree that the chance is unlikely, but Nate does have connections that I don't. And you're right, it WOULD be all over the Internet by now. That's why I think it's unofficial. I'd pry at him and blackmail him into spilling all he knows, but he's on vacation right now.
