smbisme : And Big Bed still hasn't pulled off a Super bowl MVP.  Just like in the days of Bradshaw, the Steelers won their last 2 super bowls with their defense. I would put Big Ben somewhere in the top 10 QB's in the league today, but not top 5.

trouble982 : I dont think big Ben is the best, at extending the play I do, but overall I would put him like 3rd in the league today.
There's still time for Ben to get a Super bowl MVP, I dont think he will get one but there is still time.
If anyone gets one it will be Hines Ward, or someone on their defense like Harrison or Polamalu.

legacyme3 : I think he was on Vikings... not positive though.

I think the best players are those who get ignored for defending the ball carrier. Running with ball isn't hard but blocking a 500 pound man is.

It's really hard to choose players as the "Best player" in the NFL. There are so many different roles. Do you go with QB? Receiver? RB? Defensive player?

Joe Montana?

Laurence Taylor?

Dick Butkis?

Walter Peyton?

Jerry Rice?

I mean the list could go on for days.

My favorites are Randy Moss, Earl Campbell, and Wes Welker. I can't really say who the greatest is of all time because it depends on position, but If I had to pick one I'd go with Ray Rice that guy was awesome.

Right now, I think it is pretty clear that Joe Montana is at the top of the list. He was a force to be reckoned with when he hit the field. That being said, I am really liking what I have seen coming from Aaron Rodgers the last couple of years. He is the best player currently in the NFL, in my opinion, and he has a chance to be called the greatest of all time, if he keeps playing at the same level he is now.

This question doesn't exactly have answer; football isn't like basketball, where the players are expected to constantly have good offense and good defense. Instead, you have some football players on offense and some football players on defense, but you also include players on special teams (kicker, punter, long snapper, and holder). So this question is a bit confusing because some players only do offense, and some players only do defense, and then there are players who are only on the field for kickoffs, field goals, extra points, punts, and safety punts; furthermore, even most position have different things to do. For example, quarterbacks are mainly passers, halfbacks are running backs, cornerbacks are defensive backs, and kickers attempt field goals. With all of the different roles that positions can have, you can't really say someone is the "best NFL player of all time". You could only say best quarterback, best wide receiver, best linebacker, best punter, etc.

It depends on what you mean by best. Best stats wise would have to be between Jerry Rice and Brett Farve cause they hold the most records for their positions, or by Super Bowl rings then it would have to be between Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw cause as the quarterback of their teams they both won 4 and are the only 2 to do so. Really you would have to go position by position to get more of a definitive answer and even then it still would be hard to choose.

Jim Brown by far is the best because he played in a smash mouth era without many rules like today and he still had 5.4 yards a carry as his average and I believe only one year he didn't get a tousond yards rushing
