I am making two games, but which one should I focus on first?

In one of them, you take control of one midaevil-themed character who may weild a variety of different clothings and armors, train a number of different skills, and fight myriad mythical monsters. There will be no saving of the princess, though there is the possibly of PLAYING a princess, who might need saving at some point! But if I choose this one, I will need artists. Many artists. I can handle much of the coding for such a game, indeed, I've already worked on a lot of the coding for such a game. It's isometric, and very visual, and it runs on a PHP webpage. This game is called "Lords of the Land", or LoL.

In the other game I have planned, (I talked about it in a recent thread), you control a species. It is more strategy. You can set up supply routes. and incomes and percentages. You can develop technologies from sticks and stones to fazers and forcefields. You completely rule over a species, and send tens, hundreds, thousands into war to control territory, access to resources, trade routes, etc. It will be less visual, but the interface will change based on your level of technology and what you're doing at the time, so it will still be pretty cool. I won't need as many graphics, and so I could implement it sooner. I will call this one "Rulers of Futuristic Landscapes", or RoFL.

So, which should I work on first? Lords of the Land, or Rulers of Futuristic Landscapes?

RoFL appeals more to me, so im going to say that.
There are alot of medievil type games, where you controll a hero and such. Not as many of the stratagie ones though.

Allright. That seals the design documents. The question becomes one of timeline. How long will it take me to implement such a complex game? And is it necessarily so complex?! Hm. Timeline, Timeline....

And what do you want to see in such a game? Online connectivity? Space stations? Interstellar trading routes? Warp speed? Well, of course, but what ELSE?

Lol, space stations is a must

Do you attack online people, like other players?
I think some sort of, maby asteroids based, but its just you and the other person shooting each other ot death, sorta thing. That could sorta be battles.

You should look into game maker, it has online connectivity. Im not sure if it can connect to databases though.

I'm thinking the game should be more Katamari-like. Other people can shoot you, but you don't die from it, you just drop the stuff you have. Of course, both ways are pretty irritating. But that's why you should purchase force-shields.

Err... Yes, space stations indeed. The whole thing is that you want to create functioning ecosystems, and charge people rent to live there.

Why Gay Maker? I mean, there are 1500 OTHER fake game making utilities out there, the best of which being Scenario RPG Maker. It's really awesome. And free. So why Gay Maker?

Plus; no, it doesn't.

Anywho, if I programmed it in anything, it'd be C++, and probably "Small C++" because I'd want everyone and their mothers to play my game. But why not program it for an architecture that everyone uses every single day? Their web browser! Then people with PCs or MACs or even people with Linux or BeOS can all play at once! =)

Scenario rpg maker is not online compatible, but it's VERY awesome and innovative in the way in which they code the interworkings of the game itself. Object oriented iconic commands, instead of token words, make up the language. So to get the main character to move a certain number of spaces, you would have two icons and a number. To go north two spaces, you would input: [MainChar icon] [UpArrow icon] 2

Anyhow, yes, I like PHP because it gives me the option to code universally for people of all operating systems, natively.

I plan on making a platform that will run on all of these platforms, later in life, which will make 3d games work in a similar fashion. But for now, PHP buddy!

Battle Bot Minigames...

Since you are collecting resources and making bots and AI out of them anyhow... One of the minigames (that improves population morale) should include a battle-bot match. Maybe even space-battle-bots. That might be cool. When there is not war, there are bot-wars.

Like, maby an accuracy game, to improve accuracy.. of things.. that shoot....

Sure! Little flash games, or even Javascript games! I know of quite a few games that would be good at improving stuff like that.

ogame is VERY slow. VERY. I mean, day 2 and I still only have a research lab... and I can't even research the two things I want to because I still don't have THAT much deuterium! The thing I hate most about games online is that they force you to NOT play them. DroidsRPG is the same way. You only have 40 energy, and you lose one per fight. That means you can only get in 40 fights per day. If you gain a level, you can choose to upgrade your energy, and you can get in 5 more fights per day per level. Assuming you never upgrade your attack or defense power.

Hows about we call it "Rulers of Teh futuristic landscapes??" =)

If you have a better name, just post it.

I've just seen that flash can be made into an isometric RPG game.

Flash games are heaps more fun than JS games though...
I think they force you not to play it, because then some people will play 24/7 and will become 'God Like'.

They're only allowed to interact with Godlike NPCs or other Godlike humans then. Do I have to think of everything?

You haven't played the right javascript games. Haven't you heard of Dynamic HTML? Play Snake for a while. (Yes, that's all Javascript)
