Jacob,
Hey! Here are some outlined ideas I have for the Chrono Revival site's content and related aspects. Let me know what you think and what you'd like to add/edit/take away, and I'll get the info to Greg. (This message is also being copied to the CTNP Committee. If you guys have any ideas, please feel free to chime in, as well. Also, see my points below for some "key to success" items that I think we need to strongly consider.) Thanks!

** Merged login system where people can download petition forms, see their petition count (for each one), see names collected, get current and past contest information, and see their ranking in any current contests. This would be a modified of CTNP's Operation Ultimate Victory system, located at http://www.chronotrigger.info/opuv/login.php.
** Single mailing address for both petitions, if feasible, to save postage for people wishing to send in both petitions.
** Pages describing the Chrono Revival conglomerate as well as each individual project
** Pages for articles and updates related to the projects
** FAQ page about each project
** Statements from each of us
** Page about the "staff" and key players on each team
** "Petitions, Etc." page where people can find tips and resources for gathering signatures
** Contact info page
** Link to project forums (additionally, we should keep in mind the possibility of combining into one forum to keep our fan bases as together as possible)
** Map showing where signatures currently are being and have been gathered OR a map showing specific target points or anything else you can think of that a map would be useful for (functionality could be handled through Bravenet's free GuestMap service; see the public one in the Interactivity portion of my site for an example; I believe one can be set up that only accepts posts by the admin)
** Affiliates page
** General petition information page including generic petition forms for both projects, address info, related links; should encourage people to mail, scan and email, or fax forms (will need to come up with a fax number, possibly toll free, and we should also look into electronic faxing through the computer)

I think the key to success will be by breaking through a few key issues...
1. Procrastination: people printing forms but putting off getting signatures, for instance
2. Ease of submission: generally, people will sign a petition that's completely online, which makes this instantly challenging; should be helped by encouraging electronic ways to send forms (I think we'd be amazed at how many people put off just putting the forms in an envelope and mailing them)
3. "Graduated" fan base: Chrono Trigger is old. People who once loved it and were excited about it have moved on to new games. In my opinion, the average gamer, if they're going to at all, will only look up information about a video game right after they've played it for the first time (while the excitement is still fresh) or simply while the game is still considered new and in the "buzz" phase. Thus, we need to go where all of the past CT fans have gone: to new game sites. Case and point: I talked to an old friend from Scouts a couple of weeks ago and found that he used to love Chrono Trigger. Even so, he doesn't ever look it up on the Web and thus knew nothing of the projects still surrounding it.
4. Range of mediums: Along with point 3, there are actually a lot of people who play video games but never go online to look it up. Whenever possible and as resources allow, we need to try to get featured in articles for gaming magazines, gaming TV show segments, and the like to try and reach some of this crowd.

These are the ideas I've got at this point. Obviously, the more inventive we can be, the most appealing the site will be. So, just let me know of any further ideas. Once we've agreed on enough solid ideas for the initial launch, we should put together something of a site map to show the structure. That's something I can draw out by hand and scan or through Visio or something when the time comes.
See ya!

I don't think visitors to the site should be able to see who's signed the petition. Some people care about their anonymity too much for that.

Are you talking about this part?

I think that only refers to signing in and seeing whose names YOU have collected. Sort of a way to keep track of "Oh, did I get a signature from that guy yet?" That sort of thing.

Jacob,
Well, in order to get the site done, we first must be decided upon content. On 6/10, I sent you (and my Committee) a detailed email with content ideas that I had, to which I never received a reply. (He's referring to the email in the first post of this thread; as soon as I read this I replied and told him everything seemed okay as far as I can tell.) If you and your team have the chance, please look that over to see if you have any thoughts, ideas, or otherwise. If not, then I'd say that should be enough to get it started. Being a new site for a specifically dedicated audience, however, we want to be absolutely certain that it catches some attention right from the start.

I would also recommend we map the layout of the site and how we want it to function and flow. Again, feel free to get any ideas from your team. My Committee will also check in with any further ideas.

Thanks for checking up, and I look forward to hearing any further comments about the site content.
As for the site image, it's been difficult to get Magus to look right. On the plus side, we've got a plan to try and fix it up, so hopefully it'll be ready by the time we get content finalized.

If you'd like to go over my content ideas over the phone, that would be fine, too. Just give me a call in an evening if you want to do that (hopefully I'll be home and available, but I'll let you know if that's not the case).

See ya!

Well, as a start of my revival, since school is over, I'll make a post in the most-recent thread surrounding this insane conquest. I have about 10-15 signatures. I am going to try and get a few more. I REALLY underestimated how busy I would be this year (specifically in the latter half). so I really kind of "died" a little after half-way through the year. I will TRY and get about twenty from my area. Unfortunately my school didn't like me going around with the petition much (no idea why) so I only managed to get a few from fellow classmates. The rest are from my personal friends and relatives. With any luck though I should add a pretty decent amount to the current count. I unfortunately didn't get to do much with the novel project's petition though... but I will attempt getting a few for that as well.

Anyway, I have read over the posts... and I think I pretty much understand what is going on. I agree, for the most part. Again though, I know online signatures aren't the way to go if you want to get attention. This is due to the fact that the names do not hold individuality. In other words, if you can not see the personal writing of a person... how do you know that the names you are seeing are not merely generated by a single person? This, I believe, is the major cause of companies not paying much (if any) attention to online petitions despite any large number of participants they may achieve.

You bring up a good point though. Ease of signing these petitions would CERTAINLY make the numbers rise significantly. In fact, had it been as simple as typing out my name and clicking a button, the signatures I have collected would have been in months ago. On the other hand, they would not hold nearly as much value. Lets face it, we as a people are lazy. We don't want to go out of our way (in our busy schedules) to publicize something, and mailing it out is a completely different story. Furthermore, some people may feel insecure mailing something out to a completely random person.

This being the case though, how can we effectively obtain signatures while at the same time, making the process easy? One easy way is if we all some how had tablet laptops, or some kind of "touch" interface to work with. In this manner we could essentially collect digital signatures. All we'd have to do is email these signatures to someone, so that they could merely paste these on to a master petition. On the other hand, how are we going to get this? WE would have to pay for it, and I don't see that happening. I do believe however, that some method needs to be selected. We can't just have someone type out their name because it isn't believable. We can't have people going around collecting real signatures and mailing it in because it isn't practical. What then is the method to use? Perhaps you've already decided on something (I might have missed it), but I think this is by far the biggest issue with our "project". It needs to be discussed, and if it has been already... would somebody mind filling me in?

I'm going to make an account on here for Wayne and see if I can't get him in here to discuss things. Vash, would you mind making him a Trusted so he can view this? (His username is Wayne CTNP.)

Now that you guys are being a little more active again, it might be useful to bring him in here to see this stuff too.
