Nudity and even sexual intercourse (yes, they can be exclusive of each other, though some posters don't seem to recognize that) are perfectly acceptable in videogames, as long as they're not used as stupid gimmicks to obscure awful gameplay and design (see BMX XXX, Custer's Revenge, Evony, etc.). With the onset of photorealistic graphics and considering the progress being made in the fields of virtual and simulated reality, who can plausibly deny that nudity and overt sexuality will become more prominent in the industry throughout the next decade?

Well. Nudity can be art. There are photo of naked females and males scattered around my house because my brother is an animator. That is one of the things you must know how to draw to be an animator. So ... yeah

I think that brief nudity in a game is fine if it doesn't depreciate from the rest of the game and if it fits with the current scenario. Now if it is put in as a stupid gimmick then it takes away from the game and shouldn't be there. I really don't think games should have full on hardcore sex because then it's basically just a porno in game format. These games have ratings and tell you why they do for a reason, so that kids won't be able to play them unless they parents aren't paying attention and let them.

nudity is fine, if you dont like it dont buy it, and a parent should know what they kids are doing.

Ever heard of the game Custer's Revenge? It was for the Atari 2600, and was all nudity. Even had a naked guy on the box. Also, nudity takes away from story? I guess the anime Elfen Lied is a episodic porno then... Nudity has nothing to do with taking away from story unless it doesn't fit. Also, video games were originally made by the military if you wanna go waay back. If not, they started out as a game some college student made. Also, wasn't there a Metal Gear Solid game with a nude section with gameplay? Didn't it have good gameplay?

Video games are an artistic medium as much as any other media is. If we must take out what is the human body's beauty, we must not even think we look good without clothing, as visible human skin can't possibly be beautiful. Really, quit sexualizing everything, and learn what context is. We don't give a crap if some Christian painted a few nude paintings, but dooon't touch the video games. That leads to bad things!

well there is a different kind, there is the blocked out kind; and then there is the show all you got kind of nudity. I dont care, if it has a one rating and its show all there is then i will not buying it. but if it has a ten rating then you buy it and play the crap out if it.

I think that it's fine, but it has to have it's constraints. I guess it would depend on the game itself, and how much. I don't think it's proper for there to be like some kind of hardcore sex in a game, because if somebody wanted to see that then they could just go watch some pornos, but if it's minor I don't see a big issue with it.

MegaRevolution1 : That is a horribly ugly way of thinking. Many of us older gamers, thirties and up, have been playing since we were children. Who's to say that horny little teenagers won't like to see animated boobs more than some WoW guy holed up in his apartment?
To even suggest that video games are just for kids is just nonsensical because there have been many studies concluding that the age bracket for video game players has been moving up, to my age bracket and higher.

I don't think of it in that type of context anymore, but I still think they should be for entertainment purposes only. It's unreasonable to add nudity into games. Nothing of value would be earned. Just a bunch of game companies for blame over a kid caught playing a game as such. So my vote still goes to No.

It isn't necessary, but I could care less. As long as the game isn't relying on sex instead of a story, I guess a brief nude scene won't kill anyone.
That may have been poorly worded, but my point is that sex shouldn't be used to attract players to the game or used to distract players from a poorly developed game.
As for fitting it with the storyline, some games can manage to enhance the story by exploring sexuality & love. However, they can do a perfectly good job at this without sex or nudity.

I agree with a lot of the other posters. If there's a little nudity every now and again, I don't mind, but hardcore sex could be going a little far. As long as it doesn't detract from the game, though, I'm ok with it. That said, that's not what I play video games for.

its ok occasionally but as a gamer i dont want my games muddled down with pixelated sex, games are supposed to be fun not a sexual experience

to be honest i think its funny that its legal to have games where you kick peoples head in and shoot them in the eye yet its nudity which can stop them being given an age rating. Most people say kids shouldnt see that but in technicality kids shouldnt be playing an 18 game.
