I have found that you can't "purchase" games anymore with the Laptop because you technically own all of them, but you should still be able to save.

Buying the V Machine shouldn't stop you from saving, what browser and operating system are you on? Are you using the plug in, and if not what emulator are you using? Do you have cookies, including third party cookies, enabled?
