Mario (マリオ, Mario?) is a fictional character in his eponymous video game series, created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. Serving as Nintendo's mascot and the main protagonist of the series, Mario has appeared in over 200 video games since his creation. Though originally only appearing in platform games, starting with Donkey Kong, Mario currently appears in varied video game genres such as racing, puzzle, role-playing, fighting, and sports.

Mario is depicted as a short, pudgy, Italian-American plumber who lives in the Mushroom Kingdom. He repeatedly stops the turtle-like villain Bowser's numerous plans to kidnap Princess Peach and subjugate the Mushroom Kingdom. He also has other enemies and rivals, including Donkey Kong and Wario. Since 1995, Mario has been voiced by Charles Martinet.[1]

As Nintendo's mascot, Mario is arguably the most famous character in video game history,[2] and his image is commonly associated with video games. Mario games, as a whole, have sold more than 210 million units,[3] making the Mario series the best-selling video game series of all time. Outside platform games, he has appeared in video games of other genres, including the Mario Kart racing series, sports games, such as the Mario Tennis and Mario Golf series, and role-playing games such as Paper Mario and Super Mario RPG. He has also inspired television shows, film, comics, and a line of licensed merchandise.

My vote goes for Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga! You should play it, it's a GBA game and it IS in the Retro Game Room.

This is a tough one, but I'll have to go with Super Mario World simply because it was the one I played the most when I was a kid.

I'm not a Super Mario fan but I don't mind playing the games.

I guess my favorite Mario game is Super Mario and Mario 64 only because those are the only 2 I recall playing more than once without getting bored easily.

MY favorite was Super Mario Sunshine. I loved how it looked, and I loved F.L.U.D.D.
The levels were pretty neat, too.

I was hoping to see Superstar Saga or Partners in Time. Since they aren't there, I voted for Yoshi's Island. Why? Because it was so very different from the first Super Mario World, and I liked it.

I couldnt choose between Super mario bro. 3 and Super mario world... so i picked super mario world... because the gameplay is better

I like: Mario and Luigi, Bowser's Inside Story and Super Mario RPG. Both games are really fun.

Super mario World (along with sonic adventure) Will always be my favorite game. I played it all the time when i was little and it brings back memories when i play it. the game is perfect in every way. Mario I salute you.

I personally LOVEZ super mario galaxy 2. it has double the stars s the origional, and it kept me going for 3 months. ahhh... the memories of endless screaming at the grandmaster galaxy daredevil run...

My favorite Mario games isn't on the list. It's Super Mario RPG.

New Super Mario Bros Wii is exactly what a Mario game should be, and I choose that.

My favorite mario game is mario 3 i loved that game as a kid and would always fly around with the racoon tail and my grandma didn't care that i had the tv all day because it kept me quite.

I like all of them, but I like Super Mario Bros. 3 the best because it had the Tanuki suit and an awesome world map.

Super Mario Sunshine gets my vote it was a great game colorful which always catches my attention i loved the music and it wasn't too easy like other mario games

I have to go with Super Mario world. [= I used to play it all the time as a kid at my cousin's house. Great game. Brings back a lot of memories.
