Do you believe in the big bang theory?

Yes. I don't need to believe, I am the evidence lol. If a better theory arises, I'll take that into consideration as well.

Yeah, I think the big bang theory is real. There's really not many other theories that can be compared to it, and it's the most-believed one by scientists and regular people alike.

Most people have been raised on the theory, so of course I believe it. I also believe that there are things that the human brain is just incapable of understanding, and stuff math is incapable of "proving". I do not however believe in a higher power or such.
I believe in Quantum Physics! |

I believe it doesn't matter. Whether God created the universe or a big bang happened for some reason or another that we will never be able to fully explain it doesn't matter. I don't find either theory to be mutually exclusive. Some part of those theories has to be true.

Exactly what NotJon said. Until there is a theory other than God was bored that day (inb4flame), Big Bang started the universe.

For the most part, yes. But not 100% because I doubt the creation of the universe/existence is something that we, as humans, can never be absolutely sure of.
I am not a creationist but I would like to also point out: if some sort of deity did create the Universe then it is very possible that they started their "project" with an event like the Big Bang. |

I do and I don't. Science as a whole is hard to explain. I think that we came to be by some way, shape, or form. As I don't believe in God, it doesn't leave a whole lot of options out there.

considering the evidence that states the starting element in the universe is helium and that this is turned into other elements under immense heating(such as in a sun or an after effect of a massive explosion)i would have to say yes.

There is a definitive hole in the Big Bang theory, though. Scientists say that matter exploded away at speeds faster than the speed of light. However, Einstein said that nothing can move faster than the speed of light.
Anyways, if the Big Bang Theory proves to be true, I believe it still coincides with God's creation of the universe. When God said "let there be light" doesn't that ring true with the theory? |

I am a creationist and think the big bang theory is really stupid (after all it's a theory!) I mean come on! We are an extremely advanced race and all of it was an accident!! That can't be possible!!!! (I still do like to play spore but that is not real)

I am a religious person, but I am also a man of science. So I tend to mix the two (sounds contradicting, I know). But before I start, I will point out that from reading a few posts, there are at least a few people who either didn't read the article on what the Big Bang is, or did and didn't quite understand. The theory in a nutshell is that everything in the ENTIRE Universe was all packed in this super massive matter. When this mass could not contain it's own energy, it resulted in a huge explosion, propelling all that matter through the entire Universe. The matter eventually started bonding to make other matter, eventually forming all the stars, planets, and everything else in space.
Even though I am religious, I do not simply say the Big Bang Theory is incorrect. I have read the actual astrology records in my Universities archives, and there is a very strong scientific support. Astrologists began to notice that other galaxies are still moving (stars included). By recording the direction of the movement, everything seems to be following a trajectory that has a common origin. So assuming that all the galaxies have always followed this movement, you would conclude that if you go back in time, you would eventually reach a single point where everything meets as one. But this is how science and religion can work together. I think being a scientific believer, you can't discredit the idea of a higher power. A major fundamental law in science is that something cannot be created from nothing (matter is neither created or lost). So you can go all the way back to the super massive matter as what started everything. But using the law of science, you know that something had to create that matter. If you go back further, you can continue to try to find the thing stuff that made up the stuff that made up the stuff that made up the super massive matter. But eventually, you will get to the very first thing ever existing, and that thing can't come from nothing according to scientific explanation. In my opinion, the only explanation for that is a higher power that was able to start it. I follow the teachings of the Bible, but I also keep in mind that it was still written by man (which doesn't make it not holy to me, don't get me wrong). But I am open to the idea that God very well could have started with the super mass to create the Universe, and the earth was created in 7 days, but 7 days in Gods eyes, which is billions of years to us. |
