So, there have been a lot of staff changes recently (DarkHyren and drag00n both stepped down recently as well as sophielove losing her spot about a month ago) and we're looking to add some new local mods to the team. If you are interested please send a PM to the global mod inbox to be considered.

Requirements:

Age : 14+
Posts Per Month: 75+
Visits Per Week: 3+
Previous Experience Moderating: Any would be an asset.


Also include a list of the forums you would like to mod. Anything with 2 people already on it is off limits. We only want 2 people per forum.

Oh, and give us a reasons why you think you would be a good local mod. Convince us that you are the best choice for the position. If you don't have a reason you won't be considered.

What are the responsibilities for Local Mods?

I know they handle moving and closing threads. From what I've seen, that is usually done if a thread is in the wrong place, is a repeat, or is spam.

it's the local moderators job to look after their assigned forums first... and every other forum second. Make sure there is no spamming or flaming or misplaced threads. You're also responsible for trying to keep the forums you are assigned to active.

that's more or less it... there is other stuff too... but we won't talk about it out here.

I am quite surprised honestly at how there are "not many apps".


Normally apps like this get the global mod's inbox quite flooded and there are people posting on the chat rooms and stuff, hoping to be "the chosen one" .

I don't know the reason, other then the fact that all those who wants to be local already got their position...and the world has somehow become more lazy or busy (unable to do some of the requirements due to time).

This is just a little comment on geeogree's comment, sorry if this is "inappropriate", "unacceptable" or just plain rude .

BNuge : hope you are interested, they are quite important although everyone only summons 2 (used to be 3) mods to deal with closing and moving...Geeogree and Noelia, maybe sometimes Alexanyways or Vizwiz.

Also, keep in mind my older apps, there might be some stuff there that I forgot to include in my most recent app, I believe one of them took a lot of work and explained many reasons on how I would be a good local mod (that are still vaild today), or at lest I remembered .

You might get more applications if David posts an Announcement about it. I found the thread while I was looking through the General Forum to see if there was anything new. There may be people who would make good moderators, but don't check through General Forum on a regular basis. An Announcement could draw more attention to this. This is just an idea in case you're still short on applications.

Strange, I thought there would be more apps sent. I think maybe the decrease could be also from the lack of posts lately? Oh well, whatever helps me out But didowe has a point, most people who wanted it got the job already.

well.... we had almost 15 apps last time... and most of those people didn't get a spot...

this time around we don't even have half that many so far.... I guess it's lucky for the people who have applied... but that sucks for us doing the selecting. I want more choices.

geeo, I'm telling everyone I see about it, because more selections is good, most people just don't seem interested at this point. I don't see what caused it, but interest is lacking.

How long does this Mod App last before you pick whose getting the positions?

it lasts as long as we want it to. I'm leaving it open for longer because I want more people to apply for the position

Although I doubt that I'll get chosen, I'll send an app anyways. It'll be good writing ractice.

brandonrock : if that is you application then you won't get picked.... people have written several paragraphs explaining why they would be good mods and otherwise meeting the requirements I posted at the beginning. You've done none of that.

I think a reason for less applications submitted at this time as well as the decrease in posts might be because high school students on semester have their finals around right now. Maybe they don't right now in the states, but here on the west coast of Canada semester finals are all next week.

the time for apps is now down. Thankfully we received a lot more near the end than at the beginning.
