Hey, I was just wondering what you guys thought of MMA. I'm a fighter and I was just curious as to what your guys' take on it was. Has anybody trained in MMA or any other Martial Art for that matter? If so, what did you think of it and what do you personally think you gained from it, other than the fact that you would develop skills of self defense. Anybody?

I myself feel I have gained more confidence in life in many aspects, aspects of which have nothing to do with fighting as a sport. I feel healthier and more vibrant and more at ease with myself as a whole.... it really is remarkable how being physically fit can benefit you in areas you thought not possible... has anybody else gone through this epiphany of sorts?

Well, I believe MMA is a great way to keep fit. I also think that it's a great way to build muscle and lose weight.

Yeah, I've been involved in Kung Fu San Soo for some time now, as well as formily Ninjutsu. However, the Ninjutsu was a bit of a hassle to synchronize its teachings and philosophies with my current Christian motivations. As for the Kung Fu, my instructor has been a Christian for about 35 years now and has reformed the arts' philosophy towards Christ as the source of strength.

I find San Soo to be a fulfilling hobby, and a good mental exercise which helps me to focus in life. As far as MMA, I've always been interested in it and I watch UFC from time to time; however, I think that I don't have enough aggression anymore to get involved in it.

You'd be surprised how soft spoken and gentle most MMA fighters are, you don't need to be an aggressive person in general to do MMA, but of course once you're in there, like all sports, you kind of switch gears INTO that aggressive side of you, you know? And some fighters aren't even necessarily aggressive even when they step into the cage. Look at Georges St.Pierre for example, he's an artist. He observes your movements and reactions before he even comes at you, and even when he does come at you, he's more diverse than aggressive. He doesn't go all frontal assault like most, he'll change levels and pick you apart... bit by bit, which actually should be the way all fighters should approach fights, however there are certain bouts that you NEED to be aggressive, cause maybe the fighter in which you about to do battle with doesn't deal well with pressure, so thus aggression is need and is key.... it's a "Rock, Paper, Scissors" type of sport.... and that's why I love it and always will....
