That's not very descriptive on why to play Metroid... There's also the adventure aspect and having to go through and find everything on your own. Looking for all the unlockables gives you a feeling of accomplishment once you're all done with it too.

Metroid is fun to play. Pretty much all the Metroid games have their own charm. Probably the best out of the series would be Metroid Prime. So much exploration to do and some great music and gameplay, it's a near perfect game.
