For the dude who didn't know where 6th is if u go to the cave where you had 2 use rock smash go down the way the couple went and use surf across u should find a rain themed town ( dunno name) then just a short swim down from the beach there to gym I'm same spot as the other dude at 6 badges no fly

Search lukyhawk on YouTube and veiw his channel. He has a walkthrough that covers the first few gyms. I believe up to where you battle your brothers gym, possibly further.

To find the 6th gym : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1k8G5G0o8g&feature=youtube_gdata_player

The hm fly is found near the weather institute. You need to explore the area and as you progress, you will run into your rival/neighbour. After battling him/her they will give you hm fly. The weather institute is located near the 6th gym.
In the video you see the main character jump onto land off his surfing Pokemon by a trainer with yellow hair and red clothing. There is grass patches scattered around. This is almost before he gets to the gym area. Stay on this land instead of surfing to the gym. Explore the area until you find the weather institute. From there you will have already run into your rival or will run into them as you continue. I hope I've helped!
