While I may be liberal, bisexual and everything in the middle..

I'm still guilty of being closed minded to some degree..

I find myself labelling all Christians "neo conservative nazis" and avoiding contact with christians in general.
After having a 5 hour discussion with a Jehovah's Wittiness friend of mine.. I think I'm a little more accepting of Christians.

Being in the south all my life seeing these hateful christians saying "got hates queers" and using terms like the "n" word on a daily basis I guess I just stereotpe them.

I guess I just need to learn to seperate the good christians from the bad (George Bush *cough*)..

Yeah, that is the one that I try to be mindful of as well. It's hard to not hate the ones that discriminate against you, but it can be done.

Perhaps it would be good if you got out of the South.

I live in the north, and we still have a problem with racism and discrimination. My family is from St. Paul, so naturally I have some mulatto family members, and when we moved to this town they got a lot of s***. Sort of sad isn't it...

You think that the racism didn't have something to do with his crimes?

I've personally found myself on edge with Jehovah's Witnesses lately. I know that they are not all bad, in fact most of them that I have met are cool... but for the past few days I've been developing a borderline hatred of them because of my boyfriend's family. They're really excentric Witnesses and he's been forced to hide all of his stuff from them for years... he finally told them he didn't want to be a Witness anymore, and they raided his room and threw away around $2000 worth of CDs, games, books, and swords "for his own good". The entire family is like that it seems... and gods help us all if they find out about me.

There is a "church" in Topeka led by a man named Fred Phelps. He protested my high school graduation 2 years ago because we had openly gay students. He protests almost every function at a fine arts venue because it's considered "gay." He has little children (3-5) holding up signs that say "Thank God for September 11", "God hates queers" and the like.

Fred Phelps? What church? That name sounds very familar ...

I'm a Christian myself, bash me or not, I've been raised this way.

I can vouce a couple of things that I just cannot stand ... I am a person who doesn't exactly always hang out with the "Believers" instead, the majority of my friends basically hate religoun altogether. But guess what? Most of these friends are in fact great, have common sense, and strong minded on things. They're not out partying and getting drunk or doing drugs, yet they're not religous or anything ...

Why I'm bringing this up is there's two sides to this in religoun. Some people argue "You should only place yourself withing friendships of other saved people" while else others argue "Do not sorround yourself with believers or you'll take things too lightly" (something like that). I just think it's plain out dumb, just because a person doesn't go to church or something like that doesn't mean "Bam, you're bad".

In fact, I see a lot of hipocrits within church's, probably more than the "unsaved group". There's people talking trash behind people's backs, some people act so great and wonderful at church while next week you hear they had sex or got high or something. I see fights within my Youth more often within the church than outside of it.

I too probably discriminate agains't other religouns other than mine. (to no offense) Catholicism for example, to me and what I understand, Catholicism seems almost completely identical to Christianity other than a few things:
- They do not believe Jesus is the son of God. (dont' believe in Jesus)
- They're more traditional and not as worshiping and "groupy" as Christians.
And that's basically it ... But I wouldn't argue with anyone, that my conception is probably wrong, that's just what I believe.

I've already stated my opinion on bisexuality and homosexuality, I'm personaly (as in myself) am not for it (so you can say I'm straight as an arrow or whatever, hint), but I have no problem with people who do.

I still don't see where the mentality comes from that if you are comfortable with homosexuality then you are gay. I am straight as well and have zero problem with it.

Catholics believe in Jesus, where did you get the idea that they didn't?

The difference between Catholics and other Christians is that they do some things that the others didn't like. They tend to put more emphasis on Mary and the Saints than the Protestant Christians do, and Martin Luther (who, along with John Calvin, brought about the Protestant Reformation) did not like the idea of being able to "buy salvation" by donating to the church. There are a few other things like that, I forget them all.

Let me correct some of my statements then ...

Nasa, that's exactly what I meant. If you were talking about my statement.

Catholics do not believe Jesus is the son of Mary.

Either I'm thinking of something entirely different, or I'm right. I know there's a religioun that has an entirely different view in Jesus that's similar to Christianity...

I believe the whole Christian religion is confused. I would like to mention who canonized the bible. The Romans did. How is that relavent? They also killed Jesus. They oriented the religion through the bible to control the Roman empire's populace . The bible is Church centric which was not the basis of Jesus' teachings. A whole book (Judas Thomas) was left out of the bible because it focused on being religously independent. Also many christians refer Yahweh in the Old Testament as god. Yahweh at one point was an Ilohem (A god of many gods). In fact the Old Testment ih hebrew says the Ilohem had changed Earth but had not made it. They arrived at a desolate planet were there was nothing and placed life on it's surface. A lot of things are translated with agendas in mind when the Old and New Testament were rewritten in English. It's something worth researching folks.

That does sound very interesting, but as far as I know very sketchy, I've never heard of anything like that.

But I've come to realize the fact that I have no place in such an arguement, because truth be told I have not spent time with myself to actually read through the Bible. I just go to church, that's basically it.

So, I'll stick out of threads like this from here on out since obviously I'm unknowing to these things.

There are particular types of Jews that believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Catholics I think do believe that Jesus was the son of Mary, but I don't know a whole lot about Catholics, so I am not sure, I could be totally wrong about that part. I think I know a group or two that don't believe Jesus is the Son of God, I just can't think of their names right now.

And Elara, the system where they bought salvation was getting very corrupt in some places. Martin Luther didn't want to split the Church but it happened. Also before that the Orthodox spilt from the Catholic (there weren't any Protestants at that time) in 1054 I think.

Pestus, I have never heard that before. I have always been told by someone that, Yahweh was translated to LORD. Elohim translates to God, and Adaoni (probably not spelled right) translates to Lord.

Um... Xeo... where are you getting this from? I grew up in a Catholic area, I know a lot about Catholism. They do believe that Jesus is the son of Mary... it's why they hold Mary in such high reguard. Catholics are Christian, same belives... they just pay more attention to Mary and the Saints than other Christian religions do.
Um... Xeo... where are you getting this from? I grew up in a Catholic area, I know a lot about Catholism. They do believe that Jesus is the son of Mary... it's why they hold Mary in such high reguard. Catholics are Christian, same belives... they just pay more attention to Mary and the Saints than other Christian religions do.
