Not that the board is having low activity or anything lately, but lets figure out ways that we could get this place more active, or ways to get more members to teh board.

Whether it be from new idea's on game shows, or event idea's, or unique ways of advertising the board, do the discussion in here and lets figure out ways.

Any ways to get members more involved with teh board, or ways to get members to the board is the goal here.

OK, first of all i would like to say that right now I"m at my Gf's house and she has a computer that is incredibly crappy. I don't think it would run fast if it had win 3.1. I guess she does have 56k so why am I complaining right?

As for ideas I would first like to say that you have my permission to put advertisements on the sight. I know they would suck but it wouldn't be that bad. Lets say if you were making $$$ every month then you could put more time into the board. Anyways almost every other sight on the internet has them. You could make them popups and we could all have the blocker. Or somthing like that. I guess you know if you'de make very much money or if it would be worth it or not. I'm just saying I give it a thumbs up.

As for actual ideas to get the members count up... I will leave you with my brainstorming and then my ideas. Well lets look at the sights on the internet that have alot of activity, You can either search for somthing, download somthing, somthing you can talk on, somthing you can get information from (like ign)



1: Could make a vizzed religion.

2: From the main vizzed page you could have downloads, such as emulators, public roms, music that is unlicensed, Perhaps pdf's of info on how to program, make webpages with html, and phps. Basically how to do's.

3. Well Vizzed doesn't have a specialty, i mean its a little of everything on here. I think specialty websites have a little more activity to start with. I could be wrong, but I think memberships and board activity is kind of a snowball effect. It keeps growing larger and picking up speed. So this idea is basically having other things on your flash page, like a link to the arcade mabey where it would say you have to sign up (and that signing up is easy and hassle free) And that they can earn thousands of Vizzed competing on the games!!!

4. Its hard to have ideas that keep a message board a message board. Without branching into other areas. My personal idea was to have a website that would allow rich kids to send me money PayPal so I could make money and do there papers that were due or whatever they wanted me to do.

5. Mabey have a massage directory of Jokes... I mean there are zillions of searches every day for jokes. We could all contribute and go out and Find jokes. I mean they aren't copyrighted and how much money do some of those joke pages make? It could kindof be a branchoff of vizzed. WE COULD ALSO DO THE SAME WITH QUOTES. I mean hasn't everyone searched for jokes or quotes? How many people search for a message board.

5 and a half The same goes with games. We could have a game database.

6. Just expand on what we have (like the battle system, the games, the item system) Perhaps David could have some killer download sections and we would have to pay him vizzed to get into. Or perhaps we could negotiate with david to use his bandwith to make some of our own sites. And the sites would all have to have links to the board and board stuff on it. I don't know if thats a good idea. The ability to play uncopyrighted games like monopoly, chess, checkers, chinese checkers, pool, and etc. with others. I mean just one multiplayer game on here would be really killer. And thats all I have to say about that.

Some of those idea's are good, zylo, but others aren't so good due to the fact that they are risky and wouldn't wanna risk losing the service of my host.

I have another idea and don't know how much it pertains to the vizzed board but here it is. You know that sloganizer thing that you see on vash's profile? Well have the exact same thing except with either a random joke of the day, or quote of the day. If you wanted your jokes to be blonde then all you would have to do is select the blonde category, and then select how frequently the joke or quote will change. Like every week, everday, every hour, or everytime it gets loaded up. If anyone uses this idea and makes money without me... I will be mad. lol even though there are probably already services like this out there.

I think by international servers is the gov. Can't control information that is sent out form say.... Russia or china, They can't shut down the terrorist sites or anything like that.

Ok, here is what we do. We clone me. And have a bunch of my clones post lots. That way it will appear as if we are active. ITS GENIUS.

Another two ideas are..... Take all the videogame reviews we have and make a database (we would need alot more)

Make a top ten list of things, like movies, albums, bands, games, systems, jokes, books, That people could vote on and browse.

We could find somethin we all have in common, and specialize in that in some sort of way.

Another possibility could be that we start some sort of project for somethin and go around gathering people to become part of the team...lets think of idea's for this...

I don't think it'd be hard at all. All the users on here could contriute and send people jokes or quotes. We could say.... Send all the blonde jokes to Vash, send All the sick jokes to john,, send all the really really good jokes to me... It wouldn't be too hard i guess.

For a team or somthing we would have to have skilled people. For making games or flash or whatever. But for like a.... joke database or somting unskilled people could contribute. I still think we should do the thing where people pay us to do homework. I mean WHY DID THEY CREATE THE INTERNET IF NOT FOR US TO MAKE MONEY?

Well..... You could register on google. I imagine tones of people look for people to talk to all the time... You know what i mean... I really hope this hasnt been suggested because i didnt read any posts just the first.

I was reading about it in my CS book. I guess ideas for it in theory were around before, but a British scientist in 1990 basically put the idea forth as a means to share scientific research and other knowedge.

The internet has been around way before 1990.


But anyway, lets brainstorm on my idea a little, lets think of "projects" that we could start that'd require us to go around gathering people


Here are my ideas:

Make a game - we'd gather people to help make a big game of some sort...possibly for flash, or maybe game maker (not rpg maker though)

Make a Flash Series or movie - we could get a big group together to all work on either a half hour lengthed flash movie, or to make a flash series, in which we'd release an episode once every other month or so, being about 10 or less minutes each; we'd have positions open available for graphic designer, flash programmer, script and episode planner, voice actors, etc. We'd need atleast 10 people for sure for a project such as this, and I'm sure many out there would want to be a part of somethin like this. And as for a flash series, we could have a little show called "Vizzed Ville" which would basically be based on teh board, which would involve lots of action and comedy (basicaly the 2 best genre's when put together).
Infact, we could invovle anyone on teh board who is active and that is willing to submit their voice....and this would encourage people to join the board to post and to get a role in the show.

And yeah, taht last idea was such a good one that I can't think of anything.

Well anyways now my fingers hurt. Part of the ideas were around before 1990, but definantly not the web as we know it. Before that it was basically local computers networked. But yeah...

As for the show I think It'd be an alright Idea, it would be hard to organize and stuff. I would be interested in almost every aspect of it. I would have to learn Flash, I like to think myself pretty creative so I could probably come up with some ideas too. I would help with all I could.

I'd simply make a dedicated forum to it. Macromedia is perfectly designed for sharing graphics amont projects, so it'd be pretty simple having multiple graphic people...and as for voice actors, that wouldn't be so hard to work with aswell. The most difficult thing I would see would be constructing the script and what goes on in the episode. Also, we'd have to watch out for people with bad voice acting, lol.

If it was really bad then It could be funny though!!! I like lauging at Jap Animation when my noob GF has to watch it with the English DUbbing. They always SHOUT ALL THE TIME!!! to show emotion. I suppose we could make some episodes about bad Language Dubbing!!!

Why not put some pornography on the site? That'll get you lots of new members, LOL.

But seriously, here's my idea; create an online sprite comic about Vizzed Ville. You guys already have the backgrounds and sprites for it readily available, so that's no trouble. All you'd really need would be a story and characters -- and you already have several potential characters registered as Trusted Members on this board.

Get several episodes of the comic created, and maybe dedicate a separate section of the site to it so it looks all nice and professional. You could even turn some of the episodes into Flash movies, with animation and voice-acting and such.

Then, e-mail Shiney at 8-Bit Theater (http://www.nuklearpower.com) and have him mention the comic in his weekly Webcomic Spotlight. If you do this, you guys would have to beat off the new members with sticks. I'm dead serious -- it has happened to every single comic that has been mentioned in the Spotlight. In fact, some of the comics got such a massive influx of new visitors that their sites broke down from the strain.

Or if you don't want to try that route, make several Flash-based episodes and submit them to Newgrounds. You'll definitely get members that way, too.

Making a flash series would deffinately be a great idea, I could easily come up with enough people to be a part of the team...but, that'd be somethin I'd work on toward the end of this year.

As for the comic idea that you mention, stoney, that would be a more realistic idea for right now. Wouldn't take a whole lot of time, and I could just simple use the graphics I've got from Vizzed Ville and use the character sprites that I've got aswell.
We'll have to think of a clever way to make it though, cause it's gotta be funny and it's gotta keep people interested...so this would require participation from alot of the members on the board.
I could make a forum regaurding the comics aswell...and as you mentioned, stoney, maybe we can later than turn the comics into flash movies

I want some feedback from everyone, whether they think this would be a good idea or not, to make a comic series, and of course all the active members would be in it (they could give their own scripts for their own character if they wanted).

i think its a good idea... however, it may take time to increase the no. ofpeople on the forum....
