I have a fear of getting older, I've had this fear since I was younger - it's not a serious condition or anything but just a mild fear. When I look in the mirror it seems like just yesterday the face of a child was looking back. I'm 25 but I sometimes think I'm still 23 and I feel like I'm more around the age of 21. It just seems like as soon as I graduated from high school, the years just started going by incredibly fast. 1 moment I'm being awakened by my mom to get ready for school and the next moment I'm sitting next to my wife, holding my daughter.

Anyone else starting to feel like they're getting to old to fast? You can be any age to feel like this.

JigSaw : Yeah being on the computer is like time traveling. As for the memory thing, I feel like I haven't made to many memories during the past few years, I feel like in just 1 year of my childhood I made more memories than I have during the past 5 years combined, it's crazy.

The older you get, the more responsibilities and sometimes I feel like the responsibilities are overwhelming

I just wish I could go back just for a day, spend an entire day playing with my action figures at my parents house with a few friends or battle it out with a few old friends in Goldeneye.

I don't have a "fear" per se, of getting older. However, I do feel like time is flying by a little too fast for my liking. I want to enjoy life, not sorry so much about a number we call age.

I am 18, but sometimes I feel 16. Not a huge difference, no, but still, it's uncanny how fast time has progressed, if I have any age related fears, it's that time is gonna keep going faster and faster and eventually I won't be able to remember things. I'm not worried about actually getting older though. Just the mental age increasing.

Well I do not have a fear of growing up due to the fact I can not remember anything from before I was 12 or 13. If you want an explanation on why i cant remember ill post one in the "Post about yourself thread".

I have this fear since I became 18. Since then I feel like the time has stopped at my high school years. I still feel like a teenager inside, but I try to hide it, because we have to be very serious and mature, during teaching practice, and sometimes that makes me feel like I'm in a cage D:
But being an adult has also a lot of benefits as well

I was afraid of getting older until the benefits of getting older meant moving out, going to college and being more or less independent.

I can't say I miss being a teenager because I hated things then. Sure, it would be nice to be able to go back 10 years and have no real worries, but I don't know if I could give up my daughters or my wife. Life is so good now compared to the way it was for me that I don't want to give it up.

I know what you mean David. This is just my first year in college and it's amazing how un-smooth the transition is. My semester is almost over too and yet it feels like it's gone so fast. It's a shame how much pressure is put on young people (like me) by our parents, guardians, institutions, etc.

I feel the same way. I am excited to turn 14 and then turn 15 and 16 and all that but it's going too fast in my opinion.

Man, I would give anything to be 8 years old again, but I kno it'll never happen. I wouldn't call it a fear, but I do think about growing older all the time.

Being as a kid now but also haveting to deal with some very adult situations really sucks. I am just really no looking forward to getting older which from what I have heard means getting a harder life.

geeogree : I would never give up what I have now, don't get me wrong. But sometimes my inner child wants to express himself and that's one reason why I'm excited to have a son, do sorta relive some childish habits, I can of course do that with my daughter as well though

I like where my life is right now but I just wish I could keep up with the aging thing

Check this out after you read my reply. I'd say it's worth it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtS4cBjCxhA

I'm 27 and I get those feelings, but only occasionally. The fact for me is that I've spent most of the last 15 years in a constant party mode which REALLY makes the time seem to go by extra fast. Sometimes things seem like they happened recently and then I think about it and it was 6 months ago. It's definitely an uncomfortable feeling and its something that i try to push out of my mind. One of the worst parts for me is when I'm reminded of some epic adventure that I went on and I can't remember (dead brain cells). I have to be retold the story and usually it clicks at some point and I recall... but sometimes it doesn't.

Another scary part when your my age is looking at the family members that were your age when you were young and noticing how much weaker their minds have gotten over the years or how frail they seem now. I remember my dad and my uncles as young crazy dudes having cookouts and drinking and having fun, now most of them are old and miserable dudes, still working the same jobs and still drinking, but with none of the fun. The wild fun times definitely go away and mine have been declining over the last few years.

Um... I actually forgot my real age a week or two ago because I felt like I was still 17/18. I'm actually 19, but it's kinda hard to fill out a job application when you write down the wrong age on it... It was embarrassing, because there was a point where I actually asked how old I was...

But in the end, life sucks. I've dealt with it, and I'll deal with it some more. Haha

The thing that scares me is the part about my mind leaving me. I don't want to think about all of those dead brain cells, losing memories, etc.

Davideo7 : Yes actually. I thought I was the only one with this problem. It seems like when I was a child..I couldn't wait to become 18. That way I felt like an adult and worthy. But it seems like ever since I turned 18....the years literally have been rapidly flying past. Now I'm 22 and will be 23 within the blink of an eye. But I still feel like a child at heart. I'm not a typical 22 year old...I don't own my own house...my own business or anything like that. I still check in on my mom to make sure she's well and alright.
But I think of it this way...it's not that were getting older (well we are technically) ... we're only becoming wiser as the days go by.

I'd give anything to be 14, 15 again. Those were around the ages I wished i was older...now I am and I hate it.

Absolutely. I started college at 16 and am now 18. I have over 40 credit hours and have most of my core classes knocked out of the way. I've started to doubt whether I'm on the right track. I love going to college, but most of the people in the classroom are older than I am, and haven't taken as many classes. I would like to take a break, but I can't, because I'm on a scholarship. I just wish for the power to deal with what I have. Sometimes I feel like I can't keep up.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
