Jake, just to inform you. It seems a few people on the CTRP forums have made, or want to make artwork for us. I think it would be best for you to contact them so as to give them the specifics as to what we need. I suppose for a website we would need a background image, perhaps a banner and a menu. In addition, if we ever make a forum specifically for the purpose of our petition... some good artwork wouldn't hurt their either. Also.... I suppose the title page for our petition could use a logo for our "group", and perhaps some CT imagery in the background for aesthetical purposes.

Just give the guys over at CTRP a job, and I'm pretty certain they'll gladly help us out. Some of them have already done some work... which may or may not be a good thing, considering we may not be able to use their work.

Hey guys, really sorry, but I recently moved down to school from across the country, and my roommates neglected to tell me that they got caught stealing cable while I was in transit, so our internet got shut off. I can make it to campus every few days to check my email, but I might not get internet at my house for another week or two.

The petition is complete. I see no need to change it; I think messing with it too much will make it sound unnatural. That part of the process is over.

For the time being, I dowloaded all your replies from this topic onto my computer, and will address them the next time I check my mail, either tomorrow or the next day.

Of course, I'd like to be in a leadership role down here, and when I can check my mail and everything I can help organize everything.

Let me know.

Great to hear from your Props. I was starting to think something bad had happened.

Too bad your internet is cut off though. That will make contacting you and everything a pretty big pain. I guess every once in a while is better than NEVER though. Anyway, we've come a pretty long way since your last visit. A website is being built, we're gathering up some artists to make that site pretty nice-looking too; even the petition title page will look quite nice. In other words, this will look as much like it is a professional group coming from a legitimate group as it possibly can.

As for Leadership, I was pretty much referring to the one looking over everything. We've all contributed something (especially you with the petition statement) to this, so it is not like we don't have any control over the situatuon. To be honest, with all the good ideas mentioned; I wouldn't be surprised if we could be considered a kind of "demi-leader". I think Jake-A-Roonie is really in to this though, and he has done a lot of work for this endeavor thus far. It would only seem reasonable to make him the leader.

Anyway, we now have your approval on the petition. As such, I think the time is right to begin working on the petition itself. As mentioned earlier; our title page (that having the statement on it) should be relatively attractive. It should have our group's logo, perhaps some faded out CT imagery in the background, and of course... the statement highly visable. The pages thereafter do not necessarily need any imagery, in fact... I don't think them being blank (0ther than places for signatures) would be much of a problem.

YAY! People finally noticed my PM's! I was beginning to think we were being ignored.

rpgfan3233 and Knives101 also contacted me via PM to tell me they'd be glad to help with artwork, but after that my PM box became full, so I'm not sure if anybody else tried to reply to me. I'm hoping more people will join in, 'cuz we'll need all the help we can get.

Jake, the people who sent me PM's are requesting your contact information: e-mail and such. They're also requesting additional information as to what you think the art should look like.

That is a good question, TEO. Perhaps you should ask Jake-A-Roonie; after all, he is the man officially in charge of all this. If anybody can find you a job to fill, it's him.

By the way, Jake...TEO lives in Greece, so...

A. It would be nearly impossible for him to sign and send in the petition because of shipping charges, and

B. He might be able to help us nonetheless by spreading word of the Petition in his area, since I'm fairly certain that not too many people in Greece know about CT yet...

Anyway, don't worry TEO. We'll figure something out for you to do.

I just thought I'd say...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRONO TRIGGER!!!

It seems we might have missed that deadline. Don't feel bad about it though guys. We've made some good progress, and obviously... now that pressure to get stuff in by the deadline is gone. Relax a bit, and take a moment to commemorate the birth date of what is commonly called "The Greatest RPG ever made."

Meh... I wanted to have this done by now. I've been practicing with Photoshop for some time now, so I thought I'd do some nice coloring to an awesome shot of Magus I found a while ago. The only part I got to add any special effects to was the blade part of the scythe... as you could likely tell. I'll make sure it looks great when its done, but you get to look upon the incomplete garbage for now.

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, guys. I worked on my day off, and then I had a double shift yesterday (7:30am to midnight!), plus a close friend of mine was having some personal stuff she needed emotional support with...so I've been really tied up lately.

To be honest, I haven't talked to the web designer since I gave him the assignment and sent him Dave's contact info. Dave, has he gotten in touch with you?

I agree about the deadline...now that the pressure is off, we can relax a little bit, but not let up... Besides, August 22nd is just the earliest possible anniversary of the release of CT. There are other dates when the game was thought to be released, including September 1st (which is what I actually believe was the date, since that's what the in-store posters said) all the way up through September 29th. This means we can STILL use Slashdot and advertise the petition billing it as a celebration of the CT 10th anniversary.

I am not sure when Chrono Trigger made it to Greece, so its popularity over there is totally a question mark. CT was released before Square opened an office in Europe, so its presence there has to be almost nonexistant. Thus, there may not really be much TEO can even do with regard to collecting signatures. I'll get back to you on that.

Good to hear from you, Props.

As far as how the petition itself needs to go, I think it would probably be best to download the Word document I linked to before, and make changes to that, then re-upload it somewhere so the rest of us can view it. Personally I think it's good to go as-is. We don't need anything super-fancy on it. So basically, you just download, print, get people to sign it. Fill up the page, and print another if you wish. When you're ready to send, you can mail it to:

Hmmmm... I have a difference in opinion on that petition setup. While I don't mind a simplistic area to sign names, I think there should be a seperate title page that would pretty much have at least a little "wow" factor. I think it should be pleasing to look at. Furthermore, our group REALLY should have some sort of name. We need some group to address this entire project to, afterall. We need of course, some sort of logo.

Believe me, I've worked in projects and for engineering groups and such. If there's ANYTHING that gets their attention, it is shiny pictures and perhaps some blinking lights (we can leave out that blinking lights part...). Let me list what I think would be the best possible design for the petition:

- Feature group logo, somewhere on the page.
- In highly visible, large text, name the petition purpose. Ours possibly being "Chrono Trigger Remake". You would place this somewhere near the top of the page.
- Have some kind of artwork in the background relating to the purpose of the petition. Should be faded so as to not make reading the petition statement (or anything else on it) difficult.
- The petition statement should be centered, and easily readable. Text should be highly visible.

...this is just my opinion though, of course. I think the statement and signature area should be seperated though. That way multiple signature areas could be printed out with ease.

Yeah, as Stoney said, I live in Greece. And Square hasn't released Chrono Trigger here. Thanks to a very famous PC games magazine, that "released" CT among thousands of other games for NES, SNES, SMS, SMD and other platforms, CT may be known by a few more people. I'll post in the forum of the magazine. Who knows...

Ladies and Gentlemen, the art director for CTRP, Alezunde, has contacted me to offer us his support in creating a logo. Here's what he said:

Hey Stoney!
I apologize, but I did not get your PM earlier, and I have no time now to make a logo for you guys.
However, I have had experience with designing logos, and I would be more than happy to contribute to a noble cause.
For now, either improvise, or advertise without a logo -- I would be more than happy to help you take it to the next step when I get the time to. (Soon!)

-Alezunde

Before you pass judgment, bear in mind that Alezunde is VERY good at what he does -- I witnessed proof of such at CTRP. Therefore, he would be an excellent addition to the staff.

In other news...I thought the name "CT RPG" was fine. I dunno why Jake said he disliked it over at CTRP.

An opinion is an opinion, Stoney. If he doesn't like that particular name, you just have to respect that opinion. A name for this group should be thought of though. We can't advertise this group without a name for it, afterall.

Also, I do realize that Alezunde is a great artist. We have quite a few talented people ready to help us. We just need the basic website to get up so that we can tell the artists what to build for us.

The only objection I have to Apoc's graphics ideas is simply that in an effort to persuade Square to do our bidding, we don't want to break copyright law and piss them off. So, the logo must be completely original, and any art used should probably not be that of Akira Toriyama. I think maybe the likeness of characters is fine, so long as it's not directly Toriyama's work. Perhaps a piece from CuteLucca or something like that, to establish the image of something recognizable, yet new and remade.

I welcome Alezunde's contributions, by the way.

The only reason I didn't care so much for "CTRPG" is because it sounds like "Chrono Trigger RPG," a bit reminiscent of "Super Mario RPG." A fine title for Super Mario, as Mario games weren't usually RPGs. It just sounds like we're saying "we want Chrono Trigger to be an RPG" when it already is... That's just what popped into my mind before the acronym was explained. But hey, if others support it, I can get over my own quirks.

For those of you who know me from this forum and know who "Padmé" is, she says her attorney owes her a pro-bono (free) project. So she's going to have the petition text reviewed by her attorney to make sure Square can't contest it when they receive it. I'm emailing it to her today; she'll see him on Wednesday, and an answer with possible corrections can be expected shortly thereafter.

OK, so my to-do list for today:
Email stuff to Padmé
Call Web designer to check on him
Contribute petition story to Slashdot (need a draft of the story for this; also need web designer to provide web address for new site)

That means YOUR to-do list for today:
Davideo7: Watch for contact from 2experimental Web Design and work with them on hosting the new site
Anyone else: Please write a draft of the story we will submit to Slashdot, and post it here. We want them to know that it's CT's 10th anniversary this year, and we want them to envision what a remake might look like. Model it after the text in the first paragraph of this page, but adding some references to the added realism of the scene and not just the music. That's just an example, though. Write something of your own. We want whoever reads that story to get excited about the idea of a CT remake and immediately click through to our site.

Actually, I already submited a story to Slashdot. It was rejected though. I think all of these will be ignored until we have a website. They put a HEAVY emphasis on giving them a website to be directed to, when you give them these scoops. I could only give them the forum address. Since it doesn't SOUND like a professional thing, they just ignored it.

I suggest once the website is up, and we have LINKS to support our claims, THEN we should send in the story. They will likely pay us mind better then.

As for the artwork, that is EXACTLY what I intended. That is why I requested artists. because I'd like to have some good looking fan-made work. At one point I thought about just using some nicely photoshopped official artwork, but I too thought that it might provoke them what with... them thinking we are taking their copyrighted images. Fan-made art though, can't be a bad thing. It needs to be well-drawn, well-colored, and nicely put in to the petition.

As for the group name, I never said it had to be CT RPG. I mentioned that as a possibility, but not necessarily as the name. I think some other names should be discussed, and we should decide on this name. Perhaps with a poll of some sort.
Other Possible Names:
- Chrono Trigger Petition Association C.T.P.A.
- Chrono Trigger Fans Wanting Remake C.T.F.W.A.

...I don't like those as much, but again, they are suggestions.

As for "Padmé" and her role in all of this, I think it is a good idea. The more legally correct our petition is, the better.

Why don't you go read the other threads and pages then? I have seen several posts from you mostly just like this.
So this isn't spam..... The Chrono Trigger Remake Petition is a petition to get SE to remake Chrono Trigger in 3 D.

Check out the preliminary site:

I just need to give him the text to fill in the content spaces... Also, looks like this is where we'll need those artists! Nathan has been kind enough to give us little spaces in there for 3 wallpapers and also for 3 sigs or buddy icons.

I didn't expect him to go this far...but he does like to surprise me.

I don't think Square will have a problem with us using the characters' images in outlines, nor do I think they'll object to the logo (even though they would legally be within their rights to). They might have a problem with the music though. Still, that's not even really the point. If they want the music to come down it'll come down.

At any rate, that at least gives us our base of operations. Now, he said he hasn't heard back from Davideo7. DAVE, YOU NEED TO TALK WITH THIS GUY! YES, WE WANT VIZZED HOSTING THIS!

I'll see if I can't get him to explain to me what that Contacts page is for...
