Fellow believers; it is important to know that when Jesus spoke, he did not worry about offending people, he spoke the truth with love and never said anything color coded to tickle people's ears. It is important that we do the same, not just with the truth of the word, but with any other issue. Obviously we have to speak truth with good motives only of love and to inform. It is also very important to know that in so doing, we will be called intolerant and hateful for not excepting what the world wants, and because the message of Jesus convicts everybody and lays bear their hearts. But the reward in this will be great.

you forget one thing though.... Jesus was right in everything he said. He knew the truth about every situation.

We don't. So I think there is wisdom in limiting how offensive our speech is.

[edit] I also think we should be careful not to use this excuse simply to be offensive in the things we say. To fall back on "Jesus was offensive so I can be too" is garbage.

geeogree : using Jesus as a fall back for negative talk in most cases is not good I totally agree. Hoochman has a good point though sometimes christians may tend to hold back on issues just because it seems PC or whatnot, and sometimes they should speak up, maybe.

I agree with you two, Jesus was informed by God of which what to do, he didn't really have any choice of which to be offensive or not. Jesus was special too; I'm not saying that we're not...it's just that we're not quite as important as him. Plus, it also says in the bible that we are born with Sin, and we cannot help but to sin in our lives. To finish my argument (well, sort of an argument sort of a point), anything you say can be offensive.

"Oh, you like fast food? Well, I'm offended because I had a friend die from being obese."

I'm not saying you're wrong; you're perfectly right, we shouldn't be offensive, and we should try not to say anything offensive. But it is something that can't be helped.

No matter how persuasive you are, you cannot force someone to believe something they don't want to believe. No matter what the evidence, no matter what the argument, people will believe what they want to believe. This applies to both biblical and non-biblical issues.

The important thing to remember is to convey the message as Christ would, with gentleness and respect; although, on the other hand Jesus did get angry, however, there is a difference between indignation and righteous-indignation. But it's not the job of a Christian to convict, the Holy Spirit convicts people, and they choose whether or not to believe. What we can do as Christians is present ourselves in a way that is Christ-like as possible and let Him take care of the rest.

Yes that's true, but the point is, as Christians we can't water the message down though, we are assigned to bring the message to all the world, obviously with kindness and gentleness, but without political correctness.
