Yesterday on AIM, I wa online and I got 100+ IMs involuntarily from people I did not even know, also, if you see an IM saying, "This looks like you" DO NOT CLICK IT! It downloads and goes INTO MS-DOS, and is UNDELETABLE unless you have a very good antivirus program, and restart your computer. If you go on aol instant messager, and can't even delete it by using an antivirus program and then restarting your computer and sending the virus icon on your dektop to the recycle bin, HEED WARNING, you MUST wipe out your entire hard drive if the program refuses to delete, however, take these precautions if you need to wipe out your hard drive:
1.) Burn ALL of your music files onto a CD (If any)
2.) Burn ALL documents to a CD
3.) Get ALL of your vital items on your computer and Burn them all to CD format, or unless you do not wish to see them again, Burn them NOW if you have the virus
and watch over your shoulder, the virus may come back again if you did not delete it properly. Also, here are the things it does to your computer when on aol instant messager:
1| EVERY instant message you send copies and pastes to another IM box and another screenname says what you said to your friend.
2| Randomly opening and involuntary closing of IM boxes; in other words, it closes ALL of your IM boxes at complete random.
3| Random IMs; You will receive instant messages from people you do not know, or you get IMs from people who are on your buddy list and are offline (Freaky, isn't it?)
4|Away message Reflection; If you go away while having the virus, you will be instant messaged by an offline or online buddy, and the response is YOUR away message; in other words, they send you an IM, and it's your away message.
5| Head-on virus attacking; If you received the virus, or clicked the link by accident, because you trust a friend, they might have received the virus, and it may have bounced off them when they received it, and all of your friends will send you an IM saying, "This looks like you" and there will be a link.
6| Buddy Virus spreading; When you, or if you recieve the virus, it WILL scan ALL of your buddies, even the offline ones, and send the virus to them, one by one, you may get IMs of people swearing at you because the virus bounced off you and multiplied.

Thank you and watch out for AIM viruses in the future

This is kind of redundant... In my opinion, AIM IS a virus.

My friend on aim told me his browser prompted him to accept the download for a file with a .COM extension. This was firefox, I have no idea if IE prompts you but if it does why would you download a file with a .COM extension anyway.

The virus freely takes advantage of peoples ignorance, IF YOU DONT RECOGNIZE AN EXTENSION THEN DONT DOWNLOAD IT.

I dont see how a crappy little virus like this would require a total reformat. Honestly I think if you managed to get the virus then your headless.

Well, that's why FireFox rocks. IE won't prompt you. You'll just realize when your computer starts acting crazy that you've got a virus.

AIM isn't class crappy. AIM isn't the one who allowed viruses be sent thru teh actual program with no add-on. All it is a link to a virus that attacks AIM because its a much more used program. Its almost like sayign windows sucks everytiem some1 invents a virus to mess it up. This infact proves that AIM(People create viruses for it) is windows and MSN is Apple(No one cares to create many virusesit) and Yahoo is like linux O.o.

You don't have to delete your entire hard drive because a little malfunction with AIM was sent through a link. *rolls eyes* I've gotten it like, 3 times. all I had to do was exit out of AIM, then sign on again. Then it stops. If it doesn't, all you have to do is reboot your computer.
