I was wondering how many of us are aware and interested in recycling.
Personally, I think it's a good way to help our planet and also the future generations.
There are many different materials, that can be recycled, such as batteries, glass, paper, plastic, the list is really big.

I mostly do battery, plastic and paper recycling.

What about you?

I regularly recycle what the local plant will handle. #1 and #2 plastic, cardboard, aluminum foil (if it is not crumpled, otherwise they throw it away because it may have food in it), aluminum cans. They won't recycle metal coat hangers for some reason.

I recycle whenever possible. I can't help but be a little sad at the thought of how we've messed up the world so far. With the tiniest little effort put forth from everyone working together there may be hope yet!

I recycle paper, plastic, cans and electric waste/batteries. Unfortunately there's no food/organic waste compostation facilities nearby

Yes, I recycle everything, every time I throw something out. I find myself a carnivore who's an enviro freak. So, I chose "Regular Basis".

I live in a really environmentally-friendly city where nearly everyone recycles. Even where I work, which is at the local dining commons, we separate the plastics, cardboards, trash, compost, aluminum, etc.

I barely recycle at all. The system is in place for recycling in my city, but it doesn't service the area I live in (townhouse complex) which is absolutely stupid. I would do it if they would actually pick up from where I live... I would like to have less trash to throw out and feel like a lot of the excess packaging and stuff could just get reused.

Although the nice thing about the way my city does it is that you put ALL the recycling into 1 huge bin and a truck comes by and picks it all up and the city sorts it for you. So there is no bin system. You just dump everything in together.

geeogree : all recycling things in one bin?!
This way you can save lots of time! It takes me long to separate them, that's why I recycle things, but not every day

yeah, I love the system here... but they won't service where I live which sucks.

Otherwise I would recycle a lot more because of how easy they made it.

The recycling system they have where I live is also that way. Everything goes into one bin. Makes things a hell of a lot easier.

I think that there should be recycling bins on every street corner. When I was in Manhattan, I only saw three recycling bins the whole time I was there, and they were all next to each other, hiding behind a giant garbage bin. So many cans and bottles is used in that city, and it all ends up in garbage cans. I think it's an absolute tragedy to not reuse metal, glass, paper, etc. since it saves the world so much deforestation and mining. We only have a limited amount of metal on this planet, and if we keep throwing billions of cans away, eventually we'll run out of aluminum. I saw on the web the other day a Japanese guy who invented a machine that changes raw, unfiltered, unsorted, regular old plastic wrappers into oil. Then, the machine can turn that oil into gasoline, kerosene, etc. and you can put the gas straight into your car. Why isn't there one of these machines in every home and on every corner? The only explanation I can think of is either greedy oil companies don't want people making their own gasoline as a byproduct of consumerist society, or that people love burning plastic and killing everything environmental.
