I'm not trying to be ignorant or anything. But i've never looked at that stuff seriously. I've looked at it as something out of harry potter, or lord of the rings, or some other fantasy book.

hey john where you one of the people involved in teh book burning of harry potter books when they came out because they were "evil"?

I heard that a lot of christians went ape-s*** so to speak over that and burned a lot of the harry potter books.

I am a fundamentalist christian who believes that Jesus Christ died for us on the Cross. And I beleive that the bible is Divinly inspired by god. I beleve You can only get to heaven through the son "Jesus Christ" I believe if you don't accept Jesus Christ and ask forgivness for you sins you will go to hell.... Thats all for now.

I don't really know of any true Christian that does that. I go to a Christian University and we have no problems with people treating minorities badly. I know this is a little old just wanted to point it out.

I think people went a bit to far with the Harry Potter thing you mentioned. I have read all of them. They are for entertainment, nothing else. A lot of the other people here (at college) have read them as well.

If you look you can find that The Lord of the Rings is sorta based on the Bible. Some high school teacher talked about it last year. But if you look at the stuff before the Lord of the Rings (I forget what it is called.) you can find where Sauron was cast out. It is similar to what happened with Satan.

but, I'm not totally sure, since I haven't read it...

Yeah that is it. It is set before the Lord of the Rings. I heard more of it was based off the Bible but I am not sure what.

No i didn't burn any books. I just don't take the religion serriously is all.

ok I misunderstood you. I thought you were still talking about harry potter when you were talking about a religion.

Anyway.

Wicca is technically Witchcraft or The Craft as it is also known. Druidry is not witchcraft.

I think he means Paganism. Witchcraft is a part of the Wiccan religion, as it is many Pagan religions and even some Christian ones.

Actually, the Lord of the Rings was not based on the Bible. That would make it allegory, and Tolkein abhored allegory. He was a Linguistics prefessor and a lover of mythology. England had no great mythology to call it's own, so he made one... and created the Elvish language to go with it.

I can go on and on about that, but this thread has gone off topic enough.

Tell me what yall think about this: I have been thinking alot about my religion lately. And how I beleive in god. And I think this might be a good way to explain it.


Lets say If I got drafted. WOuld I go to war? Yes I would. It might not turn out for the best. I could be killed, Tortured, be forced to kill inocent civillians... Yet also I could do good things as well, like save people and save countries. And protect our liberty. SOOOO it could end up that me going into the army VIA draft could be a bad thing. BUt here is the meat. It would be a choice I would make everytime, because its the right choice and the right thing to do. Just like my belief in god. I would choose to beleive every time.




I'm sure it would have sounded better if I articulated my thoughts out loud... And it weren't 5 in the morning. I don't think I remembered everything but that is the brutal... Ahhh meat of what I'm trying to say.

And to add something to the topic, I used to be Atheist but recently found out that I'm really Agnostic.... Yeah, go me.

I am a follower of the religion chosen by God. That religion being Catholic. Im sorry to say the rest of you non Catholics are going to hell wether you believe in hell or not. And yes I know Jesus was Jewish. He was only Jewis because at the time it was the religion chosen by God until he came to set the fondation of catholicism
