Since I had to study him for an Academic Decatholon and have seen all of his works, my favorite artist is Claude Monet, his art was amazing for his time and he was very skilled on the images he painted.

Claude Monet is a really interesting painter, his artworks look terrible close up but then you take a few steps back and they look amazing. But he isn't my favourite.

I'd probably say a manga or anime artist or something. Can't single one out though...

I'm impressed that Warhol and Monet have already been mentioned. They're some of my favorites. I like Group Of Seven, Emily Carr, and Van Gogh.

These are some of my favorite artists from the present-day:

I don't know the guys name but he started making pictures out of smaller pictures. That stuff blows my mind. And those 3d popout things were cool too. Yea it's not "cultured" art persay but I still like it.

Mine would probably have to be Francisco Goya, mostly because of this:

If your artistic tastes are dark like mine, looking into his stuff might be worthwhile.

Wow, does no one actually bother to read the thread?

My favorite, other than the ones mentioned here, is Otto Dix. I find it interesting to see how WWI affected his paintings and the views of people in Weimar Germany.

I really appreciate some of Marilyn Manson's paintings.
I actually do a little bit of surreal watercolor painting myself, but it certainly isn't on the level of Goya, Van Gogh or Monet.

I normally hate modern art, but I really like Salvador Dali.

I know a lot of people somehow get them confused, but I like both Monet's and Manet's work. I saw some of their stuff in Paris, and appreciate them even more. I think I like Manet's early impressionism more, because it still employs a lot of classical styles and conventions while still breaking away enough to be beautiful.

Wow, no ones said Michelangelo? Alright then I will: Michelangelo, Sistine Chapel baby! And the sculptures are awesome too.

Also I dislike Van Gogh because I tend to like art that I can't do with my eyes closed, but whatever... Anyway, for those that do like Van Gogh, right on. I just feel as if the only reason he's famous is because he's dead, not a good artist.
