So Im hanging out with this chick. We were on a date and it was going alright. We pass by this magazine rack and she goes all anime like "OMG Its Justin Beiber! Hes so in right now. Look its Ushers kid and blah blah blah blah....." Not only was I done with her at that point but it was the first time I had felt "old". She was 8 years younger than me so I guess thats part of it. Still though Im not like an old shut in who tries to preserve his archaic way of life. I usually try to keep up with society. Anyone out there feel "old" like that sometimes? Ever feel the generational gap?

I know what you mean, technically you are a gen ahead or behind her however you look at it I feel pretty old myself just yesterday I was 16 now I'm 22 Before you know it you'll be 80 years old wondering where did my life go But yea I feel like I missed this last decade have not really paid attention to its music, movies, games... I was much more into it all in the 90's.

I've never paid attention to that kind of news...or much any type of news for that matter. I don't even know who this Justin guy is. I'm big into videogames but I'm starting to lose interest into the newer generation crap.

Yeah, I've felt it. I have nieces and nephews so I've noticed it for awhile. Honestly I've only really felt it in the last five years, now I don't even know who half the people they play on the local rock station are.

Yup, been I've been at the reverse side of it. The young side, because I'm only 14. Not to say that I don't know old stuff. I listen to my fare-share of old music, watch a few old cartoons and shows, and even play old video games. But some of this crap is just plain stupid. Justin Bieber looks like a freakin' girl, which is disturbing, to say the least. Some of said "fads" are just plain stupid. I know I've already said it, but it truly is stupid. One thing that I can't grasp is today's women. They dress like skanks. Seriously, even when I was in the 4th grade... 5 years ago, they were dressed with short shorts with writing on the butts, and belly shirts. What the hell is going on in today's world? Are we all gonna end up dressing as s***s? I just can't believe the stuff that goes on in todays world... and now I've gone completely off-subject. My bad.

Well, I guess it makes the so called 'age gap' seem much bigger, as 'the year 2010' is much more 'new' then what life might have been for you when you were your lover's age. And it seems to be that the 'age gap' is getting bigger, as our society is getting more and more advanced. Imagine someone from 1960 coming to today's society, wouldn't it be unreal?

I'm with Zamiel in that I never really pay attention to most of that stuff anyway. These things happen to me almost daily. My friends will be talking about something, and when I ask what they're talking about, they'll look at me like I'm insane. Well, more insane than usual, at any rate. I've never really cared much for trends, or anything else that suddenly becomes popular. I can't stand a good portion of the newer music, most of the TV sucks, the clothes are ridiculous, and speech is deteriorating at an alarming rate. I'd rather not be too involved, thank you very much.

most of my frinds that I hangout with are younger then me because most people that I know that are my age act to old hahaha and take stuff to serious sometimes So most of my friends keep up with the trends and whats popular and whats not. So I have not experienced the gap because I like acting young and it seems like young people always knows what the latest fad is and whats popular

Rasenganfan2 : What I meant by acting young is I like partying with them and hangingout with. I didn't say I always dress in the latest fad's or like what everybody else likes. Most of my friends do keep up with the latest fad's but that doesn't mean I do I just know of the fad's through them. The thread said ''Have you experienced....the gap?'' I said no because my friend's keep me informed of the fad's. Being informed of them doesn't mean I do what the fad's are.

Interesting views and insight on what is considered the "Gap". Seems to stretch generations more than first thought. I mean the teens up. Always thought it was an "Older" problem. Anyways. Thanks for the input. Glad to see Im not the only one here who feels that way!

Yes i feel like that all the time! i don't relate to my generation of rap music and lady gaga nonsense. I find it hard to relate to some kids who worship that kinda of thing.
