I have two that spring to mind.

The first is Paperboy(N64} which was shrouded by the other 64 games. But it is great fun.

And also there is Trip World which is a proper japanese game. With amazing music and graphics, this is an amazing game.

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King (actually so long the title got cut off lol) is pretty interesting. I wish we had Oogie's Revenge on here, that game sounds pretty good, especially because the final boss battle is actually a song-and-dance number. Well, I think all the boss battles are, but still... it's really cool!

I think Ristar is a very unknown Genesis game that was obviously overshadowed by the success of Sonic. Plus, Ristar came out when the Genesis and SNES were dying out. Another relatively unknown game is Whomp 'em, a fun Mega Man style game(no really it's like Mega Man with an Indian guy and totem poles for "weapons") I have no idea if it is in the RGR, but I remember playing it with my cousin. Still, it is fun, so I thought it deserved to be mentioned.

I think there are games that seem unknown because they were not released in certain countries and games that were unknown because of bad marketing, release timing, etc.
So I would say some peoples games will be unknown where they are from, but maybe not in other places.

I think that a VERY unknown RGR game is Pocky and Rocky for the SNES. It has great music and great gameplay, and you can kick butt with a Japanese girl or a raccoon =/

There was also an SNES game in the series called Sparkster (not to be confused with the Genesis version, which was an actual sequel, whereas the SNES one was a spin-off) that actually played more like the original than the true sequel. It was on here, but I can't find it any more .
