ok I just always thought it was stuiped how in most RPGs the guys are the sword users and extremly strong one but the girls are mages ro sages or healers like that is just stuiped and stereotypical I mean thats like saying all girls are when in realty there not so what the hell i just don't get it.P.S If you have ever played FF3 on the DS you know you can make the people any gender which i like i always make my guys white mages(Because I like them)Black mages and arcers andi make the girl a phsyical charecter.Also how come there are almost always more guys then girls when in fact there are 5 girls for every guy.PLEASE LEAVE YOUR OPIANEIN.

Well, I suppose this should be in the Final Fantasy forum first of all (Not to be mean to you by saying that). And apart from a few games, I think that they choose the female sex to be healers because they are more of the [Healer/wise???] type.

well, personally, i don't mind. I wouldn't want to see a buff lady in FF games. That would be horrid(and likewise, guys that are feminine are really annoying... but that's in FF games already). I'd say girls are just more fit to be healers or mages. There are some things that are against this though, for example, Faris from FFV was a pirate, and Agrias from FF Tactics was a Holy Knight. But, it doesn't matter to me. While guys have more physical strength, the girls tend to have more magical power, some with immense power like Terra from FFVI. It's just how it goes, and I don't think the girls that play FF mind either lol. I'm sure they love that the girls are mages or healers and not guys. But there are guy mages and healers like Tellah from FFIV and others.
I don't get what you mean by your last sentence about how there more guys or something... So yeah, that's my opinion.

To be fair Yuna in final fantasy X is one of the most powerful characters as she can summon but yeah in most of the FF games the white mage is generally weak and pretty useless untill the end of the game

Think about it. Men are generally physically stronger than woman. Woman are generally more emotionally and mentally stronger. Not all of the woman in final fantasy are mages anyway. Ever play FF Tactics? Agrias is probably one of the strongest characters in the game. You're making something out of nothing in my opinion...

Women are more known as caregivers, and by extension, HEALERS. Men are usually better known as destructive and combative, so are WARRIORS.

Most men don't care enough to want to heal people. They just want to destroy things so that's probably why they make them the tough, melee type. Although I wouldn't mind seeing a few more female melee characters. They don't have to be buff to be good with melee.

Its a general character archetype, when the characters can't talk (the old FF games) the usually just pull up stock characters; which are usually male physical characters, and female support characters.

It has change more recently, i don't see it as a problem.

Another example against this would be Tifa. Do you see her Limit Breaks? Absolutely brutal XD She's a female monk job class. Not all females have that exception sure, but I don't think it's enough to say that in general, most female characters in FF games are White Mages.

I have always considered girls to become White Mages, while the boys become Red Mages (Thats me! ) and Fighters.
How dare you think that is sexism. I know one of my best friends is a girl, and she LOVES being a White Mage in Final Fantasy.

Yes, it is Stereotypical of girls to be healers.
But not without merit.
Girls are, generally, more loving, nurturing and caring then guys. It's just a fact.
I'll be the first to tell you that not everyone is like that (being the kind of guy that cries to good movies and hates to fight) but it's generally agreed that girls would make better White Magic users.

Also, just as a side note, Relm Arrowny, from FFVI, is the most powerful magic user in the game. And she's a 12 year old girl.

I don't mind seeing a girl as a white mage. I love it when the main person I use or pay attention to is a girl white mage.

I don't mind the genders taking on different fighting roles, but when I see a guy wearing white robes and the woman wearing full plate and using a big hammer, I cant get rid of this feeling that they are doing it just to be politically correct. I think the gaming industry has a pretty good balance right now.

You know i think the DS version of FF3 got it right. So many different opinions and such, if you let people have the option of choosing the genders that would be much helpful. But like so many said before me, Women are generally seen as the more emotional, affectionate character. They have more feelings, more morals, more of a conscious. They have a higher capacity for forgiveness then men. Men on the other hand, are my focused on one-upping another man. I am a guy, and i know for sure that i compete, consciously or not, against my other friends. Besides someone made a point how an overly muscled girl would look a bit odd. And personally i'd be more comfortable with a forgiving woman healing me then some indifferent guy who doesn't care if his Heal spell works properly lmao. Its just a judgement and preference thing really. Some people enjoy seeing women as healers, others think women should be a different stage or character then they are
