Starting on a Super Metroid hack

 
Should ROM hacks be insanely hard, or just fun? By "insanely hard" I'm referring to one hack I recently saw where touching a spike did about 60 damage (and that was when you didn't have any energy tanks!), Ceres Station was filled with lava during the escape (when you only have 29 energy), etc. By "just fun" I'm talking about simply a remix of the game with different sequencing. Another example of this would be to make an easy game where Samus doesn't lose her abilities, but is simply in kickass-mode the whole way through.

I've got the sequencing laid out for my Super Metroid hack, now I just have to actually build the thing, LOL... Some bosses will be harder, some easier... Examples: You get the Plasma Beam before you have to fight the Torizo! So I know the player will rip him a new one... But the Spore Spawn will be the game's first boss, with a few obstacles in the room...plus the player won't even have missiles yet. And Ridley will be fought on a time limit. (Hmm, shades of Prime 2?)

Nah if it is too hard I won't play it. I meant that I wasn't sure what I should suggest you do. The super mode thing was a good idea. Maybe infinite missiles?

Maybe... I just loved the last battle on Super Metroid...how Samus just turns the tables and beats Mother Brain up one side and down the other. And then the metal Space Pirates could only stand there while you blow their nuts out with the Hyper Beam...
