In Maniac Mansion, you could find a chainsaw but if you tried to use it your character would say "Its out of gas" and it was a red herring.

However, in Zak Mckracken you could find Chainsaw fuel but not a chainsaw. When trying to pick the chainsaw fuel the character would say "I don't need it, it's for a different game."
