I have never flown. I refuse. When I was 8 my parents had to drive from Pennsylvania to Disney World in Florida. I'm deathly afraid of heights. They've tricked me into riding roller coasters before and climbing a few mountains. It didn't break my fears. It made me even more cautious.

LOL!!!! Yes, this thread is very simple. It's meant to be that way. I'm afraid of the ocean too.

All in all, I just hate things that make me not be in control of MY LIFE. I'd rather be murdered by a ruthless serial killer than to FINALLY take my first flight and have the engine die over the Atlantic Ocean.

So... I'm not going to rant about it relentlessly but i hope you can understand my feelings about it.

Don't hit me with "you have more chance in dying in a car accident than flying". I don't care. LOL!! It's just the thought of it that bothers me.

I can understand where your fear is coming from, but it IS misguided. I have nothing against flying myself, and I would love to go skydiving, so you know I have no problem with heights.

I've been on an airplane ten times in my life. Obviously it doesn't bother me.

I think the view out the windows is so beautiful when the plane goes above the clouds. It's like a world made of cotton candy. Taking off is a cool feeling.

I've flown a dozen times, it does not bother me... but I am scared of great depths in water... Sometimes just going into the twelve feet section of a pool makes me feel really bad...

I think I flew in a plane when I was little but I cannot remember any of it. I see what you are saying about not being in control. That is why I try my best to stay away from crowds of people and big attractions

I love flying. It's so much fun, and I've had really good experiences with great food, even though many people have had bad. I enjoy the view, and the feeling of moving over 500 km/h, while being completely normal and comfortable.

About the feeling of not being in control, what's the difference between flying and having a parent drive you to school? Do people freak out every time someone drives them somewhere? I don't see the difference, really. I trust a pilot with years of training and hundreds of hours of flight experience more than I would ever trust my terrible driver of a mother.

I absolutely hate flying, and agree with the feeling of having no control. I have flown from LAX to Tucson, Arizona like 6 times back and forth so 12 and have only had 2 good flights(and its only a hour long flight). One flight I had was such a bad expirience, the turbulence lifted me out of my seat twice.

I have never flew before, and I doubt I will anytime soon. Ever since 9/11, I have had dreams of going on an airplane for the first time and it ends p crashing or terrorists come on it, so that really holds it back. But I'm beginning to conquer that fear, so hopefully it will e gone soon before I'm ever forced to fly.

I have flown way too many times to remember and have been on a plane for 13 hours straight then another 10 hours after a 10 minute stop.

I dont mind heights and I would go skydiving if I could. But I hate airplanes because you sit down and your ears dont pop and it is annoying. But I just hate airplanes I dont have a fear of them however.

For you, I would suggest not using a zipline. There was one I used in New Hampshire at a ski resort (They open it in the summer for hiking and the zipline). I was high enough that it wouldn't have felt very good if I fell. At the end, it looked like I wasn't going to stop in time, but they had a thin plastic pipe that was designed to close in on itself when pressure is applied. A perfectly effective braking system.

I have flown around 2 or 3 round trips in my life. The worst part was when my ears hurt. Just chew gum and it's all better. My Mom doesn't mind planes, but she's afraid of heights. She used to hike all the time, so it's some kind of a developed fear. I don't know what started it.
