Well up until today I had long hair, let it grow for two years but I'm getting a job and need to look semi-professional. So I donated my hair to locks of love. Figured it was a nice thing to do since I didn't need it. But then I was wondering if anybody else has donated, wanted to, or is planning to. Any thoughts on this, post it...

I can't, my Dad would shave my head bald if I tried growing it that long, but my sister did. She felt pretty good about it afterwards.

Nice! How do you feel after doing that? I've donated my hair to them twice, and both times I did it I felt really good about it.

I'm currently growing it out again to donate it a third time, hopefully it'll be long enough in under a year.

Yeah I feel real good about it. I haven't sent it in yet though, gotta pick up an envelope tomorrow. It took two years to grow and two minutes to cut, such a shame...*a tear falls* I prolly won't grow my hair out again though, it just is a pain when in the stages between short and long. I would like to but just can't see it happening any time soon. Plus it's summer so it's getting warm out which makes things a little cooler for me also.

hypermonkey did they get a certificate or anything sent to you when you did it?

No, you don't get a certificate or anything, but that would be pretty neat.
I totally know what you mean about the annoying length between short and long, I just passed that point.

My best friend has her hair to her bum, and she's thinking about growing it down to the back of her knees and then donating it. I don't know if she's actually going to, but we've talked about it.

I have thought about growing my hair out, but I don't think that I could stand the weight of the hair right now. If I were to go get it thinned I might be able to do it, however, my dad just cut off 11 inches if I remember correctly about 3 weeks ago that was grown out for donation to Locks of Love. He wanted to have a little fun with it as well, and have a contest at the school where he taught for many years, where the student who managed to gather the most non-perishable food items to be donated to the local food shelf was going to get to be in on the process of cutting the hair.

Well just to confirm that there really isn't much weight to it, it's just hair. However if your talking about being in the sun and heat with a head full of hair then I can see what you mean by this. Other then that, there isn't much weight to it and you can't tell a difference in it either from weight to weight. It might be interesting though to put your hair on a scale and see how much it weighs.
