Yeah there is a way. While not all games maybe compatible with your controller or a controller, you can find out by hitting escape when in a game of your preference, goto the settings to set it to your controller is one way. Or double-click the game screen and you should see a drop-menu with a bunch of options, you should be a able to format it for your controller in one of these areas.

I'm fairly sure OP wants to be directed to a USB adapter for an actual console controller, I don't think he's referring to configuring an already-compatible joypad.
