The robot masters in Mega Man V are named after planets for the most part. Indeed, Mega Man V introduced us to 10 robot masters named the Stardroids with 9 of them taking their names from planets. Neptune is one of them and he made his debut in Mega Man V for Game Boy.

Background- Neptune was created by Dr. Wily. Wily unearthed Sun Star and noticed he was made out of alien material. He used the same material to create the star droids. Thus, Neptune was one of the 9 he created, not including Sun Star. Neptune was made for sea and land combat. Being made out of alien material he was immune to a lot of weapons.

Neptune was part of the first wave of star droids that attacked earth. After the attack he went into the sea and appears to have taken over a naval base. Despite taking over a naval base he has high respect for the sea and the under water eco-systems.

He eagerly awaited Mega Man's arrival as he thought since Mega Man could not defeat their leader Terra and since earth weapons did not effect him he could defeat Mega Man. What Neptune did not know was Dr. Light had changed Mega Man's weapon to one that could damage the star droids.

Mega Man defeated Neptune. However, it is shown he is still alive based on his CD data. It is not clear if he still works for Wily. It is speculated he might have reformed and work to protect the sea similar to Dive Man.

Appearance- Neptune's appearance is best described as looking like a half human half sea monster type robot master. He has fins on his back and has green flippers for shoes. He is mostly blue as the planet he is named after is solid blue. He also has some green on him though. He has regular hands and has a cannon on one of his hands.

Personality- Neptune cares about the oceans and the sea. He is very protective and passionate about protecting the under water eco-systems. When he sees people over-fishing he goes into rages. He is generally portrayed as an optimistic robot master. He is not as aggressive as some of his peers.

Attack- Neptune's main attack is to use his salt water. In this attack Neptune can fire several bubbles or one giant blog at the player. The salt water weapon is very corrosive and that is why it can do damage. When he uses the giant blob and it hits a wall it can break into smaller blobs. His other attack is to jump causing salt water to fall from the ceiling. He can either do a long jump or a short jump to try to land on the player.

Weakness- Neptune is not the fastest Star Droid so the player can use this to their advantage. He also moves up and down before doing a long jump. His main weakness is Spark Chaser. Spark Chaser can hit him multiple times. The problem is the player will not have the spark chaser to the rematch. Its best to learn the timing of his jumps and hit him several times and he will go down.

Once he is defeated the player will get the Salt Water Weapon. The player can fire a blob of corrosive water that can burst into smaller blobs to do extra damage.

His weapon can corrode any metal. He is also trying to cut down on his salt.

Neptune having to cut down on his salt intake is a reference to salt water in the Ocean. Since he spends most of his time in the ocean he can bloat up when he gets on land.

Neptune being part sea monster and being an aquatic robot master makes him maintain moisture. Fungi like moisture so he has a problem with athletes foot. For Neptune it gets in his flippers which he has to constantly treat.

Neptune loves the sea and the sea's eco-systems. In that sense he is similar to Dive Man who also likes the sea and believes in protecting it. Neptune does not like over fishing because it harms the eco-systems. Second, he is often mistaken for a fish like creature sometimes.

Neptune's color scheme is likely a reference to the planet he is named after which is solid blue. Also in Greek/Roman Mythology Posideon also known as Neptune was seen as the master of the sea.
